🕊️ If Someone Harms You: Justice Is Allowed, But Sabr Is Higher 🕊️
is a religion of balance. It does not command weakness, nor does it promote revenge. If someone slaps you, Islam allows equal response, but choosing sabr (patience) raises your rank with Allah.
📖 Qur’an: Permission for Justice
Transliteration:
Wa jazā’u sayyi’atin sayyi’atun mithluhā fa-man ‘afā wa aṣlaḥa fa-ajruhu ‘alā Allāh
Translation:
“And the recompense of an evil is an evil like it. But whoever and makes reconciliation — his reward is with .”
📚 (Surah Ash-Shūrā 42:40)
📖 Qur’an: Is Better
Transliteration:

🕌 Hadith:
Transliteration:
Laysa ash-shadīdu bis-ṣura‘ah, innamā ash-shadīdu alladhī yamliku nafsahu ‘inda al-ghaḍab
Translation:
“The strong one is not the one who overpowers others, but the strong one is the one who controls himself when angry.”
📚 (Bukhari 6114, Muslim 2609)
🌙 Hadith: Reward for Controlling Anger
Transliteration:
Man kaẓama ghayẓan wa huwa qādirun ‘alā an yunfidhahu, da‘āhu Allāhu ‘alā ru’ūsi al-khalā’iq
Translation:
“Whoever suppresses anger while able to act upon it, Allah will call him before all of creation…”
📚 (Tirmidhi 2021 – Hasan)
🧕 Example from the Sahabah
A man once insulted Abu Bakr (رضي الله عنه) in the presence of the Prophet ﷺ.
Abu Bakr remained silent. The man insulted him again — still silence.
When the man insulted him a third time, Abu Bakr responded.
The Prophet ﷺ stood up and left.
Abu Bakr asked why. The Prophet ﷺ said:
“An angel was defending you as long as you were silent. When you replied, the angel left and Shayṭān came. I do not sit where Shayṭān is present.”
