My personal opinion is that air drying for the average person, or a hairdryer at a healthy distance, are the ideal drying methods. If you utilize a hairdryer too close to the scalp you can cause excessive heat damage to the scalp creating inflammation at the scalp level. Additionally, air drying with certain types of hair like very wavy or curly hair that requires intense conditioning would be ideal so that an extraordinary amount of heat doesn’t dry out the hair shaft creating breakage or weakness in the hair strand.

From a usability and time perspective, it may be easier for individuals to simply air-dry so that they can decrease damage from a hairdryer or a flat iron in a rapid drying scenario. If you have dry or brittle hair and you are trying to maintain moisture with a leave-in conditioner, air drying may be beneficial.

Blow drying is better for volume compared to air drying. Depending on the texture of your hair, it may create a wave or decreased manageability. Differing ambient humidity may cause moisture to be retained on the scalp for longer than that is healthy, resulting in a negative scalp microbiome situation.

🔍✴️What is a PONYTAIL HEADACHE SYNDROME ?
⏩Even though there aren’t any nerves in your hair that would sense pain, there are extremely sensitive nerves underneath your hair follicles and in your scalp.
🔘When a ponytail triggers a sensation of tightness in too many of those nerves at once, a headache can result.
☑️You can also get these kinds of headaches from wearing a hijab, tight braids, or a headscarf.
🔴Ponytail headaches are technically a kind of allodynia. That’s when a normal sensation, like having your hair in a ponytail, causes pain.
🟠Ponytail headaches are common but they are more likely to occur if you already get frequent tension headaches or migraines.
⚫️The occipital nerves (at the back of your head) and trigeminal nerves (around your face) are the nerves often affected by compression from headwear.

“COMBING , WASHING & DRYING YOUR HAIR”

🟠Brushing or combing your hair help to spread the natural oils from the roots to the ends. Brushing your hair right after bath can damage it as hair is at its weakest when it is wet. Use a hair brush that has soft bristles made of natural fibers.

✳️Don’t rub your hair after washing it, try blotting your hair with a towel. This is because when you dry your hair with a towel, it’ll dry faster but the amount of hair that breaks and falls away also doubles up. So, just blot with towel and let it air dry.

☑️Wash your hair only as needed, this is to preserve your hair’s natural oils. Washing your hair twice a week is adequate, unless you have oily hair.

🔴Blow drying and overusing heat tools is the cause leading to dryness and breakage. Frequent use of hair dryer can dry out hair, causing breakage and split ends. So, let your hair dry naturally instead. If you do use a hair dryer, don’t hold it too close to your hair, use a cooler setting on your hair dryer, to minimize damage.
