Another year on the Gregorian calendar, and here’s a few things that I’ve learned and had reinforced:

Real success is having a happy, healthy and supportive family

Hanging out with elders is necessary because they remind us of the simplicity of a good life.

You realise who your real friends are when you are struggling.

Most people would rather talk than listen

For most people, status is more important than truth

Most people would rather put up with sickness than do the work to be healthy.

Before you invest in the plan, programme, diet or workout, invest in the right people, because if you could achieve the health, fitness and vitality you want by yourself, you would already be where you want to be!

Plans and programmes don’t get results, the people who keep you committed and hold you accountable do!

Getting in shape is a spiritual process, disguised as a physical one! 💪🙏

Statins- Are you robbing Peter to pay Paul, when you don’t actually need to be paying Paul?

LDL cholesterol alone is a weak predictor of heart disease and chasing an LDL score may actually be putting you at risk of heart disease further down the line by increasing risk of type 2 diabetes.

Triglyceride to HDL ratio is a more accurate predictor of heart diseases risk than LDL so if you’ve been put on a statin because of a slightly raised LDL score, get a 2nd opinion.

It’s interesting how normal cut-off points for LDL have been reduced numerous times in the last 40 yrs.

What is regarded as high today may have been normal only 30-40 yrs ago!

Always get a 2nd and 3rd opinion when reccomended to take drugs to prevent things you are at low risk for.

The most effective prevention starts with simple lifestyle changes, not medications with numerous side effects!

If you’re looking to invest in your health. Invest in people who will empower and inspire you to become active participants in your health care, rather than a passive recipient of prescriptions.

Plans, programmes and prescriptions don’t get results, professionals who live health do!

Judge your Health Professionals by how hard they work to get you off medication, and if they aren’t an example of vibrant health, are they going to do the best for you?

In 2014, an eminent Danish medical researcher told us that - “Our prescription drugs are the third leading cause of death after heart disease and cancer in the United States and Europe.”

He also went on to say-

“We should take far fewer drugs, and patients should carefully study the package inserts of the drugs their doctors prescribe for them and independent information sources about drugs such as Cochrane reviews, which will make it easier for them to say “no thanks”.

Don’t outsource your health to a prescription pad until you’ve done what you can, because if you do what you can, you won’t need a prescription!
