The “Grass is always greener” belief is rarely about the grass!
It’s about subconscious patterns.
This behaviour often shows a nervous system that is quietly seeking safety.
When closeness, consistency, or emotional responsibility begin to activate old memories or survival responses, the subconscious looks for relief. New situations feel easier because they haven’t yet asked us to stay present.
It can also reflect a fear of depth rather than a lack of desire for connection.
Depth requires being seen as imperfect, human and learning. And the truth is, nobody is perfect!
Not in relationships, not in life, not in ourselves.
Healing begins when we stop searching for flawless situations and start allowing space for humanity.
Often, the subconscious confuses novelty with fulfillment.
Excitement brings intensity, but fulfillment grows through safety, trust, and emotional regulation. When calm feels unfamiliar, it can be mistaken for boredom.
This pattern may also point to unmet inner needs formed earlier in life.
Instead of asking, “What part of me needs reassurance or healing?” the focus shifts outwards but changing environments doesn’t change subconscious programs.
The grass looks greener not because it is
but because it hasn’t yet asked us to stay, feel, and grow.
In RTT, we see discomfort not as a sign to leave, but as information.
And when subconscious patterns are healed, the urge to keep searching fades, not because life becomes perfect, but because safety is finally felt within.
Greener grass isn’t found.
It’s cultivated gently, imperfectly, and consciously. 🌱
