Movement games as warm ups not only help to physically warm up the body, but also primes the nervous system into a state of positive activation.

From this state it’s easier to then push into a harder more intentioned piece of movement with focus.

This month we are reading Scarcity Brain by Michael Easter.

When we read his previous book Comfort Crisis it was one of our most popular book choices.

This coming month we will read about how Easter traveled the world to consult with remarkable innovators and leading scientists who are finding surprising solutions for our scarcity brain. He discovered simple tactics that can move us towards an abundance mindset, cement healthy habits, and allow us to live our lives to the fullest and appreciate what we have.

We will meet after Ramadan, so there abundant time to get your reading on!

✨ Strength training isn’t about shrinking your body.
It’s about supporting it for the incredible adventure that is your life.

Here's 5 benefits from strength training that have nothing to do with how you look ❤️‍🔥

1. Bone density & longevity
Strength training is one of the most powerful tools we have to protect against osteoporosis and fractures as we age. Strong muscles = strong bones = independence for longer.

2. Joint health & injury prevention
Lifting builds the muscles, tendons and ligaments that stabilise your joints. This means fewer aches, fewer injuries, and more confidence moving through daily life.

3. Hormonal & metabolic health
Strength training improves insulin sensitivity, supports hormonal balance, and helps regulate stress. It’s not just about muscles — it’s about how your whole system functions.

4. Core strength & pelvic health
Done well, strength training builds deep core stability, supports pelvic floor function, and improves posture and breathing. This matters for pregnancy, postpartum, and life in general.

5. Mental resilience & confidence
There’s something powerful about getting stronger. It builds self-trust, reduces anxiety, and reminds you what your body is capable of — far beyond how it looks.

Your diaphragm and pelvic floor are best friends (whether you realise it or not).

They’re literally connected through pressure.
When one moves well, the other responds. When one is off… things get messy.

🫁 The diaphragm sits at the top of your core
🌸 The pelvic floor sits at the bottom
Together (with your deep abs) they create your core canister

On an inhale:
The diaphragm descends ➡️ pressure moves down ➡️ pelvic floor gently lengthens

On an exhale:
The diaphragm rises ➡️ pressure lifts ➡️ pelvic floor recoils and supports

This is how your body is designed to manage load.

🚩 When breathing is inefficient (chest breathing, constant bracing, breath holding):
• Pressure has nowhere to go
• Pelvic floor gets overloaded or switched off
• Can contribute to leaking, heaviness, prolapse symptoms or pain
• Core stability becomes “fake” (all tension, no support)

More tension ≠ more stability.

🔥 Effective breathing = real core stability

When breath and pressure are managed well:
✔️ The pelvic floor supports instead of strains
✔️ Deep core muscles activate automatically
✔️ The spine feels stable without over-bracing
✔️ Strength, lifts and impact feel stronger and safer

This is why breathing matters in squats, deadlifts, running, jumping… everything.

We teach effective breathing in our small group training, because good movement starts with the breath.

Client Love:
Afshan is an endurance athlete who came to us post injury struggling to get back to the sport she loves.
Our focus was rebuilding the base of strength to be more resilient. That meant focusing on appropriate fuelling by eating more food and enough protein while increasing strength training to 3 days a week.
Plus reducing endurance training while this was the focus.

As you can see she gained size in muscle and looks much more full and healthy.

Strength training is vital for endurance athletes and taking intentional off seasons after big race goals is important for longevity in any sport. This allows you to focus on correcting imbalances and weaknesses, rebuild muscle and maintain bone density.

Don’t skip this part of your workout 👇
Breathing.

Training puts your body into a sympathetic state — fight or flight.
That’s great for lifting, sprinting, pushing hard.

But if you finish your session and stay there…
❌ recovery slows
❌ stress hormones stay elevated
❌ sleep, digestion & hormones take a hit

Post-workout breathing helps shift your nervous system back into the parasympathetic state — rest, digest, recover.

✨ Why it matters:
• Lowers cortisol
• Improves recovery & muscle repair
• Supports better sleep
• Signals safety to your nervous system
• Helps your body actually adapt to the training you just did

Training is the stimulus.
Recovery is where the results happen.

Take 2–5 minutes after your session.
Slow nasal breaths. Longer exhales. Let your body land.

Strong and regulated — that’s the goal 🧠💪
