I was looking for a picture and I passed through this one, it’s exactly 4 years ago, 24th January 2020.
I look at this picture and I smile. I was:

Living in Dubai, and it was 3 months before lockdown with the pandemic, when the world changed.
I was entering my 10th year of being an Emirates flight attendant but also coaching women on the side for 2 years.
I remember making my health and fitness a BIG priority, and truly enjoying what I was doing.
I see this picture and it brings me back memories of my old building and my old gym. My friends and neighbors. I had all the time in the world to do what I wanted, when I wanted…

Fast forward 4 years later I cannot believe I have 2 daughters and that i’m a stay at home mom (my coaching business is in pause mode).
My priority is my daughters and everyday my whole day revolves around them. Right now I don’t have the time to go to the gym because I don’t have anyone to leave them with. I also don’t have the time to do a workout at home because I barely have time to eat (i’m not even kidding). I need to manage my time and find a way to get back to my workouts even if it’s only 20min at home. But having a 2.3 year old and a 2 1/2 month old, without any help (my husband works 12 hour days), it is HARD work, much harder than when I was a flight attendant and did crazy long flights. This is the hardest I have ever worked but also the most gratifying. There is no better feeling than hugging my daughters and knowing I can take care of them. I still feel new in motherhood and I have so much to learn. But through this process I can truly say that if I didn’t take care of myself like I used to (like in the time of this picture), my pregnancy and postpartum period would have been so different.

Maybe you are a mom like me now or maybe you are a girl that has no kids like me in this picture. It doesn’t matter. ✨TAKE CARE OF YOUR BODY. ✨
It is never to late to start. Do it to be healthy inside out. To be able to play with your kids and not get tired. Do it so that the medical report is awesome no matter your age. Do it because you love yourself and feeling good and happy with yourself is awesome.

With love,
Camila

We made it to my DUE DATE! 😱🤰🏻November 2nd 2023.
Any moment now, little sister will arrive… 🙏🏻❤️.

To all my pregnant mammas: I hope your pregnancy is going well. I know it can be SO hard, and I also know some days we feel great and some days we don’t. But I want to remind you to be kind to yourself, it is not easy seeing our body change, but this is temporary. You are creating life! It’s literally a miracle. Embrace it, and despite the changes and difficulties, be blessed that you can become a mom. So many women struggle to be one, to all of you I send you my biggest hugs and prayers that your dream to become a mom becomes reality. 🙏🏻

Some pregnancies are easy, some are hard and some are extremely hard. Don’t compare your journey with others, research, read, understand, but also listen to your doctor and your gut instinct. Becoming a mother has made me hungry for information and I have realized we cannot just trust what 1 person says, BE INFORMED, ask for second opinions and take your OWN decisions about your body and your babies. No one can make you do something your not comfortable with.

With all my love, I am thankful for this community of my bakeandtone that has been with me for so many years. I’ve changed, my instagram has also changed. I left Dubai 3 years ago, whaaat?! I still cannot believe that. But here we are 3 years later. Still with the same purpose of helping you live healthier, however since I became a mom my focus has changed.

I have created a new platform specifically for moms or women wanting to become moms! But I haven’t launched it because of different reasons, it makes me sad that I have it on hold but I literally feel like the days pass and I am so busy but then look back and don’t manage to advance with my business. But I will, and when I do, I would love for you to check it out. But let’s be honest I think it will be 2024😂.

Now, my countdown for my second delivery is here… planning for an unmedicated vaginal birth, praying baby girl wants to come naturally and I don’t have to induce. 🙏🏻

Lot’s of hugs, 🤍
Camila

An open letter to my second daughter, from my heart:

📝Dear Baby Girl # 2,

It’s hard for me to find the words of what I want to say to you. I am going to be honest…. I am scared. Scared that you are our second and of how will I manage with your sis, scared of having to divide my attention and love, but everyone tells me that we will love you just as much as Isabella, and even though I know that is true, it is hard to comprehend and I don’t want to make you feel second place - ever, because there is too much love for you in my heart!

I am so excited to see your tiny little face in the next days, to look into your eyes and hold your precious little body that has been forming in me for the past 9 months, a miracle of God, and I am grateful for that.

You will come into a family filled with so much love between us, your big sister Isabella is truly a one of a kind and we are so excited that you girls will be sisters and I pray you become the best of friends- a forever bond.

Your Dad is an amazing man that cannot wait to see you too, in his arms you will always feel safe and he will teach you what it looks like for a man to put his family first. You won’t always see him most days when you wake up as he will be gone for work, that will be our special time. But when daddy is back home expect lot’s of playing, laughing and book reading!

I want you to know that I will do anything it takes to give you and your sister the best life possible. We live in difficult times right now and there is a lot of suffering in this world. But I pray our home is always safe and that you girls know that you can unconditionally count on us.
I promise to be patient and kind, present and loving. I apologize already for the times when you will see me frustrated, I am not perfect and I have a lot of flaws, motherhood is not easy and being a parent is hard but it’s the best thing that has ever happened to me.

You are my second, and I think I am more experienced, but I still promise to give you my all.
I promise to always pray for you and your sister and to love you both unconditionally.

Dear baby girl, we can’t wait to meet you! You are so loved already!

Love,
Your mom, Camila

In these difficult times that we are living, I am making it a conscious effort to look for joy in the small things / moments of life. Like playing with my daughter, watching a show with my husband or when we all snuggle in bed together.
I’m grateful for everything I have, my family, friends and all those that we love and pray for peace and may God have mercy on all of humanity.🥺 🙏🏻

Sending you love and I hope that whatever situation your going through, you remember that everything in this life is a moment, and this moment will also pass. Hang in there. 🫶🏻

With love and kindness,
Camila

My husband got paid today.

I looked in our account, and there it was.

Recognition for all of his hard work. The long hours on the job. The price he is paid for getting it done.

He deserves it, and we need it.
Boy, I’m thankful.

But I don’t get the same for my job as a stay at home mom.

I work so hard every day, and night.
I literally have never worked harder.
Yet mine is purely a labour of love.
My money invisible, like so much of my work.

But that work -
That all consuming, exhausting, relentless work that comes with being a full time mother -
It comes with a wage.
Just not the usual type.

Right now my wage is in the slower mornings I get to have with my kids.

It’s in the cuddles we have throughout the day.

It’s in the new firsts I get to see, and the lasts I may never see again.

I get paid through the quiet little moments we share when no one else is watching, and the chaotic days filled with so much joy.

And boy am I lucky.

No one hands me a check for being a stay at home mum,
But my kids hand me the lottery.
Because I may not be rich financially,
But I am rich in heart and soul. ❤️

Sending love to all the moms, working mom’s, stay at home moms, we are all doing the best we can!

Pregnancy update! 🤰🏻 Are you as shocked as me?!😂 I had heard this with second pregnancies, but OMG! I feel huge! Also this picture was taken 3 weeks ago, in it I am entering my 6th month (week 24). I am now in week 27😱 which means in 1 more week I enter my THIRD and LAST trimester!!! OMG!
I don’t know where time is going by, but I am definitely feeling like when I was 8 months with Isabella.

Isabella turns 2 on the 16th of October🥳😱, so is it technically 2 under 2? Send help!!!🙈

Banana bread 🍌🍞🥰 Save for later!

- 3 or 4 very ripe bananas (even if they are almost black! The riper the sweeter).
- 2 eggs (ideally organic and free range).
- 1/2 Tsp vanilla extract.
- 1 1/2 cup whole wheat flour.
- 1 Tsp baking soda.
- 1 cup of crushed walnuts (optional, it can also be any nut! To crush I used whole walnuts and crushed with a knife).
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips or raisins or omit!
- 1/4 cup butter.
- 2 TBSP honey (or sugar, or your choice of sweetener).

- Pre heat oven to 350 F. Grease or use baking paper for the bread loaf pan you will use.
- In a mixing bowl mix either with a spatula or hand mixer the butter and honey with eggs.
- Mash bananas with a fork and add to the mix, mix throughly.
- Add the flour, baking soda and continue mixing.
- Add the vanilla extract, followed by half of the crushed walnuts.

Pour in the bread loaf evenly and on top add the chocolate chips & other half of walnuts.

Bake for 60min, until the knife in the center comes clean. When you take it from the oven let sit for 10-15min before serving.

Let me know if you make it!❤️

With love,
Camila

When in Costa Rica…😋! Been here for 10 days but unfortunately have been super sick for most of them, 🤧 can’t get rid of a cold and i’m super congested, stuffed nose, etc… needless to say, very sad as I am missing on seeing many friends that I wanted to see and for them to meet Isabella!
Isabella is also a bit sick, with a terrible cough.🥺

I’ve realized now that I am a mom, how difficult it is when we get sick because we genuinely don’t feel well but it really doesn’t matter because either way we need to take care of our kids! We really are SO strong in much more ways than I thought possible. I only want to lie down and not do anything, but that’s just not possible.

So big hugs to all parents who everyday give their best to their kids, even if they are sick, sad, stressed, etc. YOU GOT THIS.👊🏻

If you don’t know what this plate is, this is a traditional breakfast dish in of rice and beans (gallo pinto), eggs cooked to your liking, corn tortillas, cheese and plantain.

Who else loves this brekkie?😍

Big hugs!
Camila

1 year apart: February 2022- today. On the left I was 4 months postpartum. It was when I started to try to be active again. But a few months I did nothing, or just 20min workout! Remember It’s not about doing long hour sessions, if you can manage at least 10min to move your body, that is already some activity that you hadn’t done!

Slowly I started to become more committed on regaining my strength and building muscle back. But it was harder than I thought to make the time, it’s absolutely exhausting to be a mom (but so rewarding).

So I noticed that I needed something I could commit to and that I would enjoy. For my clients, I am their accountability and they know that when they have their sessions with me, they HAVE to do their workouts. 😅 I occasionally ask them to send me pictures of their apple watch when they have to do a workout on their own, so they feel that accountability and know that I am there for them… pushing them to break that sweat and make the time to workout! 💪🏻

For me, I found an activity that allows me to leave the house and at the same time interact with other people (being a stay at home mom in a country where we have not yet made friends or have any family can be quite lonely!). So in October 2022 I enrolled in something new, in BARRE classes. It’s a mix of pilates, with some slight weights, cardio + balance + strength. I’ve enjoyed them so much! But I must admit that everything i’ve done before throughout the years has helped me to perform these moves and workouts. So it’s not about the BARRE workouts, it’s about being ACTIVE and doing an activity you enjoy and will KEEP doing it! I do 3 classes a week and sometimes do a home workout in my living room with Isabella there with me!

I love working out because it challenges me and makes me feel strong, this way I can carry Isabella, lift her up, run with her and not get out of breath.

That’s why I encourage all of you to find something or someone that will motivate you to be ACTIVE!👊🏻 The changes are not just physical, I feel happier and I think that’s the most important thing.

Remember start now, in a year from now you will be thankful you did! 🤍

Love,
Camila

26/11/2022

Some truths about becoming a mom:

You’ll miss the girl you where, but love who she is becoming even more.

Asking for help doesn’t make you weak, we weren’t designed to do this alone.

Unwanted intrusive thoughts are really common, and yet we never talk about them.

You can be in so much company and still feel lonely.

You’ll never feel so strong and so vulnerable all at once.

You’ll never be so attune to someone else’s feelings, their breathing, their cries, its incredibly beautiful and incredibly exhausting.

You’ll get asked if they’re a good baby, you’ll wish you responded with, “they’re all good babies”.

You’ll be triggered often, you may even have to reparent yourself in some ways.

You’ll scroll a lot, your feed will be over taken with Mum accounts and baby things, some of which will give you Mum guilt. You don’t need that, it’s hard enough.

You’ll cringe at some of the things you said, or the things you didn’t do for your friends with kids, way before you had any of your own (I get it now, and I’m sorry).

Your baby is not manipulating you, it’s biologically normal for them to want you close, and that’s no bad habit.

If you simply kept the kids alive today, then you achieved a lot.

That crying in the shower is something we’ve all done, sometimes we don’t even know why.

Your brain will go missing for a while.

It is not a one size fits all, the routines, the apps… no one knows your baby better than you.

You’ll feel distant from your partner, the one thing that makes you feel as if you’re floating one minute has you both sinking the next. Sometimes it’s an ocean between you (but it won’t always be like that).

You’ll crave alone time and yet when you’re without them it feels like a piece of you is missing.

They grow so fast (but you won’t enjoy every minute) and that’s OK.

You’ll get better at this, but mostly you’ll get better at just rolling with it.

You’ll never know patience until you become a mother.

You’ll never know a person inside out until you become a mother.

You’ll never know how love can turn you inside out too.

And you’ll be forever changed, but in the best way.

Words: Jess Urlichs

Extra thankful today!❤️
