Colonic Hydrotherapy
(First appointment 1 ½ hr - including a free consultation) (follow up appointments 1 hr)
During this treatment warm filtered water will be gentle introduced to the colon via the rectum ( bottom) Abdominal massage may be used during the treatment to further encourage the release of stored waste matter from the bowel. Please see the video on my page which will show the treatment procedure. Many of my Colonic Hydrotherapy clients experience relief from a wide range of conditions and aliments, to name but a few; I.B.S, constipation, excessive wind, trapped wind, bloated stomach, diverticulitis, and even skin conditions such as eczema and acne. You do not need to have a digestive problem to experience the benefit of Colonic Hydrotherapy. By ridding the body of your ‘ toxic overload’ you may experience a sense of lightness, mental clarity and general overall feeling of wellbeing after a treatment setting you on the right track to improve your diet and lifestyle. During a Colonic Hydrotherapy treatment I am happy to discuss any dietary concerns you may have and offer advice on making simple changes to your diet and lifestyle to promote your health! Abdominal Massage (1hr)
Abdominal massage is a soothing and relaxing treatment using small circular and lymphatic draining moves which will encourage the elimination of unwanted toxins and improve bowel function. Abdominal massage is can help relive constipation and bloated abdomens as it stimulates the peristalsis of the large intestine, tones up the muscles of the abdomen walls and helps the encouragement of movement of the contents of the large and small intestines. Abdominal massage is great for I.B.S symptoms and is a less invasive treatment than Colonic Hydrotherapy. Consultations for Abdominal massage for I.B.S are available if you have been diagnosed by a GP. (Initial Treatment 1 ½ hrs - including an I.B.S consultation). Call me for details. Massages
All of my massages can create a feeling of wellbeing, through relaxation or invigoration. Massage helping to reduce pain, tension & stress in specific areas or the body. My massages can boosts circulation of blood and lymph, increases flexibility and flow in the body, calming the nervous system, encouraging physical and mental relaxation and reducing anxiety and fatigue. Pressure can be varied depending on your specific needs and requirements at the time. Aromatherapy Massage (1hr)
Relaxing massage using blended Aromatherapy oils for your specific needs or aliments. The oils all have distinctive therapeutic, psychological, and physiological properties, which help improve and prevent illness. Most of these oils have antiseptic properties; some are antiviral, anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, antidepressant and expectorant ( help rid congestion from the body)
The use and choice of essential oils can help with stimulation, relaxation, aiding digestion getting rid of excess water retention in the body. Swedish Massage (1hr)
Invigorating and relaxing massage helping to work out tense muscles and help keep ligaments and tendons supple. Specific areas of the body can be concentrated on such as the back, neck, shoulders, legs or arms. Pressure can be adapted to your needs if you prefer a lighter massage to gently work the muscles or a deeper massage to really work out the tension this can be achieved. The massage techniques stimulate the nervous system which can help reduce emotional and physical stress on the body. It can help to maintain good posture and raise awareness of the body as a whole. Pregnancy Massage & Post Pregnancy Massage (1hr)
Massage during pregnancy can be beneficial to mum’s to be and baby. Massage can help ease aches and pains as your body adjusts to preparing for labour. It is important to take time out to rest and relax during this time and a massage can help you do just that. Pregnancy massage can promote relaxation, reduce stress, minimise back and sciatic nerve pain, and ease muscular aches and leg cramps. Increasing the flow of oxygenated blood around the body can help in essential nutrients reaching mother and baby. Improving lymph flow can help reduce water retention and odema. Endorphin levels can be boosted during a massage leaving you feeling uplifted with a sense of well being. Post Pregnancy Massage can be beneficial in helping to relive commonly experienced discomfort in the back, neck and shoulders. Having a massage at this time will give you the much needed time out to rest and relax, leaving you refreshed. Again massage can help with any fluid retention in helping to drain the lymph in the body. Deep Tissue Massage (1hr)
Deep Tissue Massage is a restorative treatment and can invigorate or deeply relax, depending on the techniques used during treatment. The massage techniques used work on the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Deep Tissue Massage uses slower and firmer strokes and pressure than other treatments - deep finger pressure that concentrates on particular areas, and follows or goes across the fibers of muscles and tendons. It helps to refresh and relax muscles, increasing the blood flow and therefore the oxygen flow around the body. Deep Tissue Massage expels toxins in very sore and strained muscles, which helps them to strengthen and heal. Deep Tissue Massage is not advisable:
If you are, or may be, pregnant . Have a history of heart or respiratory problems. Have problems with your joints. Have any skin allergies or conditions. Back Neck and Shoulder Massage (30 mins)
This quick and effective massage specifically zones in on the tense tight muscles in the back, neck and shoulder area. Instantly relaxing and relieving any aches and pains they could be related to everyday activities such as sitting at a computer, driving, carrying small children or heavy handbags and even just overdoing it at the gym. Again pressure can be adapted to your needs and a relaxation massage to unwind and relax is also available for this treatment. Hot Stone Massage (1 hr)
A wonderfully warm and relaxing experience. The heat of the stones works deeply into the muscles allowing the muscle to relax and unwind without the use of deep pressure massage. The treatment can improve circulation and calm the nervous system. Helps to relieve muscular aches & pains, rheumatic and arthritic conditions, It can be beneficial in the pain associated with Multiple Sclerosis, Fibromyalgia and muscular back pain. Creating a sense of wellbeing as well as helping reduce stress, anxiety, tension and fatigue in the body. Full Body Lymphatic Massage (1hr)
This is a great detoxifying massage helping to unblock and clear the lymph nodes and increase the circulation of lymph in the body. This treatment is perfect for helping to tackle stubborn cellulite (when used in conjunction with daily body brushing- ask me for details, you can do this yourself at home!)
The treatment can help improve areas with excess water retention, oedema, and anywhere there is lymph congestion and stagnation. The treatment helps the body to clear toxins and helps improve and assist the immune system naturally. It is helpful in relieving fluid retention including pre-menstrual bloating especially around the abdomen and thighs. It can help reduce swollen ankles & legs especially after flying. Overall it is a beneficial and deeply relaxing treatment which many of my clients love when they try! Facial Lymphatic Massage (30 mins)
Luxurious facial massage focusing on relieving tension in the face and head, great for puffy eyes or tension headaches. Similar principles to the full body lymphatic massage but focusing on the facial area only. This helps to clear the lymph in the face, head and neck. Great for clearing blocked or congested sinuses during or following colds or episodes of sinusitis. No ‘facial products’ are used just a simple natural oil (usually sweet almond oil) and aromatherapy oils can be used if required or requested leaving the complexion naturally glowing! Indian Head Massage (1 hr)
Great relaxing treatment for tension headaches, eye strain and sinus trouble and upper back, neck and shoulder problems. The treatment combines a head and facial massage to alleviate pressure and create flow with an upper back, neck and shoulders massage to work on tense tight muscles. Perfect quick treatment for those who sit at a desk all day or do a lot of driving for a living. It is amazing how sedentary daily routines can cause so much tension in the body. Great results especially for sinus trouble, tension headaches and migraines. It can increases mental alertness and can help with hair loss problems and promotes healthy hair growth. General Reflexology (1hr)
Reflexology works by working on specific points on the feet that corresponded to organs and glands in the body in order to bring the body back to homeostasis or balance. Any condition where the bodies systems are out of balance will be helped. Reflexology is not a diagnostic treatment or a "cure all", however many disorders respond positively including such things as migraine, sinus problems, hormonal imbalances, fertility problems, breathing difficulties, digestive problems, circulatory problems, back problems, tension and stress. It is a deeply relaxing treatment. The treatment ends with a luxurious foot massage using a peppermint and tee tree foot cream leaving your feet pampered and you with a spring in your step! Working with a highly skilled fertility specialist team many of my clients have found Reflexology to have helped with stress management, relaxation and fertility issues when combining with acupuncture and other naturopathic treatments. Reflexology for I.B.S (Initial Treatment 1 ½ hrs - including a consultation)
I.B.S must be diagnosed by you GP prior to treatment for I.B.S. If you suffer with symptoms such as cramping, abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, and diarrhoea, it may well be signs of I.B.S. As many as 1 in 5 people in the UK population have symptoms of IBS. Stress can be a huge contributing factor to I.B.S and relaxing the body and restoring it back to natural state of calm and homeostasis can help. Reflexology is an excellent treatment to help rebalance the body concentrating on the digestive system area on the feet whilst having an overall impact on other organs of the body to help alleviate symptoms. As an I.B.S sufferer myself I have found great relief from Reflexology treatments. I can personally recommend it! Reflexology for Fertility - Initial Consultation & Treatment ( 1 ½ hr) (usually 1hr)
Working with fertility acupuncturists and naturopaths we have found it beneficial to offer Reflexology for treating women's problems including PMT, heavy or irregular periods and fertility problems. Patients have reported feeling more positive, relaxed, with improved sleep and better menstrual cycles within a course of treatments. Bringing the body into a state of balance, the body's systems to work to their optimum and reducing stress levels may help the body s chance of conceiving. Reflexology can focus on balancing the endocrine system, reducing stress, reducing tightness of pelvic muscles and cleansing the large intestine and liver. Reflexology can be used before IVF treatment to help relax and prepare the body for embryo transfer. Reflexology in Pregnancy (1hr)
From Pre conception, Pregnancy, Labour and Post Natal period Reflexology can be beneficial. During pregnancy your body will go through emotional, hormonal, physiological changes. This will alter the balance and can cause you discomfort and unease. Reflexology at this time can help to restore some of the body’s harmony and balance. Reflexology can promote general relaxation, relief of stress and anxiety whilst easing symptoms such as aches, pains, backache and heart burn. Reflexology can help reduce nausea and vomiting associated with ‘morning sickness’ and relief constipation, cystitis, and oedema. The deep relaxation can help with sleep problems and insomnia and a series of treatments can help prepare for labour. Research has shown that, with regular treatments labour time can be reduced and many women require less pain relief. Some women find it helpful to have Reflexology to induce labour. Reflexology is generally safe during pregnancy. However it is NOT advised if there is a history of premature labour, sever hypertension (high blood pressure), placenta previa or recent vaginal bleeding. If you suspect any problems during pregnancy consult your GP or midwife. Postnatal Reflexology (1hr)
Reflexology for new mums can help with postnatal problems such as insufficient lactation (milk production), breast enlargement and tenderness, constipation, urine retention, backache, stress and anxiety, insomnia, postnatal depression and low energy levels. Hopi Ear Candles (45 mins to 1hr)

Ear candles are an ancient, mild and natural therapy and have been used by the Native American Indian for many years. The Hopi candle is not a candle as such, but a hollow tube made out of cotton flax. They are impregnated with extract of honey and herb oils to help with specific aliments. The included facial massage and use of ear candle in each ear can help to improve circulation and lymphatic flow and drainage in the head and neck area therefore helping with the treatment of; sinusitis, rhinitis, hay fever, excessive or compacted earwax, glue ear, itchy ears, dull hearing, tinnitus, pre and post flight ear disturbance, watery sensations in the ears. Regular treatments can reduce the need for syringing. As there is a head and facial drainage massage it can also help alleviate tension headaches and migraines. Please note: It is not suitable if you have or have perforated eardrums, grommets in place or current inflammation or infection. Disclaimer:

N A T I O N A L F E E T W E E K

17th- 23rd April 2023

So it’s National Feet Week this week and this is your reminder to check in on your foot health…
Your feet can tell you a lot about your health and well being.

Foot health is important and foot complaints and pain can be common. This is a reminder for you to see your relevant foot practitioner such as physio or podiatrist firstly if you are experiencing pain or discomfort. It could be an indication of or lead to other health problems and it’s important to take care of the feet like you would other parts of the body.
The National Feet Week website (www.nationalfeetweek.org) has some information about:
Foot health in pregnancy
Children’s feet and shoe fitting guidance
Tips for runners
Caring for baby feet
Diabetes risks and red flags for your feet
Cosmetic foot surgery (is this a new trend?!?)
Shoe lacing for problematic feet

And as Reflexologists (although we do not diagnose) we can often see how the feet give valuable indications of the health and well-being both emotionally and physically.

One of my favourite books is The Language of the Feet by Chris Stormer which illustrates how the feet can reflect your both past and present experiences.

Your feet are amazing! I wonder what your your feet say about you?

🌟NEW and UNIQUE MENOPAUSE PROGRAMM🌟
may have finished but the awareness and practices to support it should definitely continue.

With this in mind I’m happy to share that I’ve completed a new specialist tailored Reflexology programme which focuses on the symptoms of Menopause and Peri-menopause supporting women’s health and wellbeing.

The treatment uses a combination of well researched and rational based series of techniques on the Face, Hands and Feet to help you manage a range of menopause or peri menopause symptoms.

Research and reports show Menopause symptoms can range from any of the following:

Anxiety
Dry skin
Fatigue
Bloating feeling
Headaches
Heart Palpitations
Heavy bleeding and or
Irregular cycle before they cease
Hot flushes / flashes
Insomnia and trouble sleeping
Irritability
Decreased libido
Loss of concentration
Mood swings
Night sweats
Reduced stamina and energy
Urinary incontinence
Vaginal dryness
Weight gain
Vertigo
Thinning hair
Brain Fog
Depression

The awareness around the menopause now is greater than ever which is fantastic and many more natural health approaches are emerging and being talked more openly about which is wonderful.

This has facilitated my in depth and advanced training on understanding of peri menopause and menopause, the changes to the body hormonally, emotionally and energetically and given me the opportunity to offer a treatment to help support the changes.

🌟It’s the first reflexology programme of it’s kind and I’m so pleased to be to be able to offer it.

🌟The treatment is luxuriously relaxing and you will be supported and guided with additional natural approaches which can help you feel further empowered and in control of your symptoms.

24/04/2020

Public Health England is recommending people consider taking daily vitamin D supplements throughout the spring and summer as the coronavirus lockdown continues.

People in the UK are already advised to consider taking a supplement of 10 micrograms a day during the winter months (from October to March), and all year round if we aren't spending much time outdoors. It recommends vitamin D throughout the year for certain people.

Public Health England is concerned that people could be missing out on the vitamin during the coronavirus pandemic when we are being advised to stay at home more.

The sunshine vitamin, along with others, can help our body stay fit to ward off illness and infections - important during a pandemic.

Some studies suggest avoiding deficiency helps our resilience to common colds and flu, although there is no evidence that vitamin D boosts the immune system.

Scottish and Welsh governments have issued the same advice.

Remember the same can apply for those living elsewhere, Vitamin D deficiency in Dubai. Despite usually enjoying virtually all-year-round sunshine, the UAE has one of the highest levels of vitamin D deficiency in the world, with one Dubai-based study indicating that 8 out of 10 people had insufficient levels. Worth bearing in mind.

FEELING SLUGGISH???
Simple ways to boost to your Lymphatic system during lockdown and boost your immunity at home...
⭐️Drink more water! Lots of water to flush out the toxins. Aim for 2-3 litres of pure mineral water daily. Dehydration really does make your lymphatic system sluggish and underproductive.
⭐️Reduce the caffeine (I know, I know, hard one stuck at home, working, homeschooling ...)
⭐️Switch to a green tea of you need to tea ☕️ ➡️🍃.
⭐️Herbal Teas. Dandelion and Nettle teas are great. Tip - mix nettle tea with peppermint tea if you don’t like the taste alone (will also help with bloated tummies)
⭐️Hold on the salty foods and watch out for those salty snacks.
⭐️Dry Skin Brushing (watch this space for more info on this).
⭐️ Do Yoga. Inversion techniques are particularly beneficial (think legs up the wall, headstands if you know how to safely!) Handstands with the kids anyone? (easier said than done!) Please no injuries 🙄Seriously though, there are lots of great online yoga sessions at the moment to join in on (Anyone offering online session - feel free to post below).
⭐️Rebounding! I 💜this one! More info to come on this in coming posts. Get moving on a rebounder / mini trampoline (dust it off from the garage) Or get bouncing with the kids on their trampolines. So much fun, great exercise in a short amount of time and really helps boost your lymphatic system.
⭐️Cold Shower burst. During your daily shower, alternate between hot and cold water bursts and OR finish off with a cold (as cold as you can manage) burst of water over your whole body! Bit of a shocker at first, but, honestly you’ll feel amazing / buzzing / invigorated after wards.
⭐️ Essential oils. Use a blend of a few drops of, fennel, juniper, cypress, grapefruit essential oils mixed with a carrier oil such as grape seed or sweet almond oil (cautions with nut allergies), even olive oil or coconut oil as a nourishing lymph boosting oil for the skin and feet. *Always use essential oils carefully with correct quantities*.
⭐️Self Lymphatic draingae techniques (upcoming post for effective points to use at home).

🔥HOT FLUSHES & REFLEXOLOGY 🔥
A study recently published in Complementary Therapies in Clinical Practice2 aimed to identify the effects of foot reflexology when applied to menopausal women on vasomotor complaints and quality of life.
The study involved 120 women attending a menopause polyclinic in Turkey, in the menopause, premenopause or postmenopause phase, and experiencing untreated hot flashes at least three times a day.
The results showed that hot flashes, sweats and night sweats decreased in both groups, however the women receiving reflexology demonstrated a statistically significant larger decrease compared to those in the foot massage group. Reflexology also significantly improved problems in the s*xual domain (for example, alterations in s*xual desire and s*x avoidance).

REFLEXOLOGY FOOT MAP
What is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a gentle, safe, non-invasive pleasant therapy that helps restore the body’s natural balance, promote natural healing, aid relaxation, reduce stress levels, release tension, promote better sleep, improve mood and promote general wellbeing.
It is particularly beneficial for those who are trying to conceive, during pregnancy and even the post-natal period.

What happens during Reflexology?

During a reflexology treatment, Gemma uses her thumbs, fingers and knuckles to apply different techniques and pressures to the feet, sometimes lower leg, hands or ears. The pressure applied to the reflex areas or pressure points found on the feet, hands or ears help to rebalance other corresponding areas of the body. The reflex areas on the feet for example correspond to areas within the body such as organs and hormone producing glands as shown in the diagram
