Who knew a few coloured drops and a straw could turn into such a challenge? 🎃💧

The kids had to carefully slide each droplet across the surface and guide it into the pumpkin with the matching colour. It might look simple, but it takes steady hands, coordination, attention, and just the right amount of control to get it there.

A little movement, a little thinking, and a lot of excitement when the drop finally reaches the right pumpkin.

Sometimes the most engaging activities are also the ones building the small but important skills behind everyday tasks.

This activity focuses on postural stability while the child performs a functional reach and placement task. By reaching out and returning to midline, the child activates core muscles, practices controlled weight shifting, and improves body awareness.

In Occupational Therapy, activities like this are useful to enhance trunk control, bilateral coordination, shoulder stability, and motor planning all of which are essential for everyday tasks such as dressing, writing, playing, and participating in school activities.

Therapy through purposeful movement helps build not just strength, but confidence and independence.

Dynamic weight-bearing activities are powerful tools in pediatric occupational therapy.

In this activity, the child maintains balance on an unstable surface while performing a ring-stacking task. This combination strengthens core muscles, improves shoulder stability, enhances bilateral coordination, and supports sensory processing through vestibular and proprioceptive input.

By developing proximal stability, we create a strong foundation for distal control — which ultimately supports fine motor skills, handwriting readiness, and independent functional performance.
