🚨 Medical support in sport shouldn’t be a luxury — it should be the standard.

This ABC article exposes a major gap in professional women’s sport — the lack of consistent access to physios, doctors, and performance staff. But let’s be clear: this isn’t just a women’s sport issue. It affects athletes of all genders, across all levels — professional, semi-professional, pre-elite, and community.

While a few sports and teams do get it right — where athlete health is prioritised and medical support is fully embedded — they remain the minority.

Too often, performance and medical teams are under-resourced or completely absent, while athletes are expected to deliver at increasingly high standards. It’s a dangerous mismatch — and it puts careers, wellbeing, and long-term participation at risk.

It’s time to shift the game. Physios, doctors, and performance staff aren’t extras — they’re game changers.

If we want athletes to reach their potential, we must invest in the people who keep them healthy, resilient, and ready to perform.

High performance starts with high-quality support. Let’s champion the teams behind the team — because that’s how we build a stronger future for sport.

📚 ABC Article: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2025-05-20/womens-teams-physios-medical-team-lack-of-funding/105287564

Medical support staff across women's sporting clubs say a lack of investment in their area is hindering the development of elite players and contributing to a higher prevalence and longer rehab of injuries.

🌟 The finish line is in sight! With 4 days to go in Movember, I’ve walked 51.4km of my 60km goal. Every step has been dedicated to raising awareness and funds for the critical issues Movember supports:

👨‍⚕️ Prostate cancer research
🎗️ Testicular cancer awareness
🧠 Mental health and su***de prevention

I’m moving for the fathers, brothers, uncles, and friends in our lives—to spark conversations, encourage early intervention, and remind them that their health matters. Every kilometre walked is a step toward breaking the silence and making a difference.

With just a few days left, I need your support to make an even bigger impact! Donate to Movember and help change the face of men’s health. Every contribution counts and brings us closer to a healthier future. 🌍👣

👨🏻🏃🏻‍♀️This Movember, I’m walking 60km to honour the 60 men we lose every hour to su***de worldwide, while some of my fantastic colleagues at Wakefield Sports and Exercise Medicine Clinic (WS+EMC) are either growing moustaches or joining the move challenge by walking, running, or cycling. Together, we’re raising awareness and funds for men’s health, supporting critical issues like prostate and testicular cancer, mental health, and su***de prevention.

Ready to kick off Movember in style with my brand new Brooks shoes! These will keep me moving comfortably as I take on this challenge to support men’s health.

At WS+EMC, promoting proactive health is at the heart of what we do. Movember gives us the chance to encourage the men in our lives—fathers, brothers, friends, and patients—who often face these challenges silently, to prioritise their well-being. Whether we’re moving or growing, each of us is proud to take part, inspire conversations, and support healthier communities—one step (or moustache!) at a time. 🌍👣

👣 BUMPER PADDING FOR BLISTERS 👣

😩 Blisters on the ball of the foot can be quite painful and hard to get on top of, especially when transitioning between pre-season training and into the playing season! Netball court work generally involves more change of direction and loading on your toes than some pre-season training, providing the friction needed to create blisters.

✅ Bumper padding with Elastoplast Australia & New Zealand’s Leukofoam is a great way to take the load off the friction site and break the cycle of repeated friction causing blisters on blisters!

🟢 If blisters have opened, cut away the broken skin and allow them to dry out between trainings/games. Seek advice from your Physio or Podiatrist if unsure!

🪒 Once skin has hardened, you can reduce the recurrence of blisters by shaving down callouses around the area regularly.

🧐 Consult with your Sports Physio or Podiatrist, who can help identify why you are developing blisters in this area and guide you on further prevention!

It was great to see the Matrics Netball Club Premier League Squad’s pre-season efforts paying off at their strength testing session this morning.

Using the VALD Performance ForceDecks & NordBoard we were able to measure their progress over pre-season to date and then use the current results to inform the next training phase! 💪🏼
