The grass isn’t always greener… sometimes it’s just different.
Lately I’ve had moments of missing New Zealand — certain people, places, ways of being. And with that can come the quiet question: Did I make the right decision?
What I know is this:
Two things can be true at the same time.
I can miss aspects of where I came from and still know that moving was the right choice for me at the time. One doesn’t cancel out the other.
We’re so conditioned to label decisions as good or bad, right or wrong. But those labels are often unhelpful — especially when we’re making thoughtful, values-based choices in complex seasons of life.
This wasn’t escapism.
It was a considered decision grounded in what I needed most at that point in my life. And it also doesn’t have to be forever.
Growth isn’t always glossy. Social media can sell us the idea that once we choose “the right path,” everything should feel light and aligned all the time. That’s just not real life.
Sometimes growth feels like longing.
Sometimes it feels like grief for what you left behind.
And sometimes it simply feels… human.
If you’re questioning a decision, it doesn’t mean you failed.
It means you’re reflecting.
And reflection is a sign of awareness, not weakness.
