When things get tough, we reach out for coping strategies that help distract us and provide instant relief from negative feelings. These strategies don't always support our wellbeing long term and can quickly turn into unhelpful habits.

See if you can simply swap these habits with ones that support your mental well-being... create a pathway to resilience one small daily habit at a time.

Our brain is our greatest asset 🧠 —protect it with intention, every single day. In our hyper-connected world, it's easy to normalize habits that slowly chip away at our mental strength. But peak performance doesn't come from grinding harder—it comes from aligning your daily actions wi...

People who choose to work in human services and community care are very often prone to 'people pleasing'.

Setting professional boundaries with people who are vulnerable is challenging. Care providers committed to 'pleasing' can create blurred boundaries and quite often enable inappropriate behaviors......disempowering both parties.

Jefferson Fisher, Prosecution Attorney and communication specialist, offers simple communication tips that can be applied in any work situation and indeed in life. He's well worth following.

Working as a Care Worker in a new country comes with unique challenges. Special days like Mothers Day, when your own Mother is so far away, can be very hard. Make sure you stay connected and look after your mental wellbeing.

Mother's Day can mean many things.

For some, it's a celebration. For others, a reminder of longing, loss or love unspoken.

If someone you care about might be going through a tough time, take a moment to reach out – a kind message or a genuine conversation can make all the difference.

For those needing help or a listening ear, Lifeline is available on 13 11 14.

Create daily self-care habits and stick to them. When stress increases or a stressful situation hits you like a thunderstorm, these habits will support you.

Some suggestions for you to consider:

1. Physical: exercise, eat healthy, get enough sleep, stretch, keep moving, walk in nature, take regular deep breaths.

2. Emotional: keep a journal, meditate, practice mindfulness, talk to a coach, a mentor or a trusted friend.

3. Mental: read, learn a new skill, solve puzzles, engage in a creative activity like art or music. Focus on what's working well. Avoid ruminating over worrying thoughts.

4. Spiritual: practice gratitude, connect with nature, explore your values and beliefs.

5. Social: spend time with loved ones, hang out with people who support you and lift you up, join a social club or group. Just stay connected!!

6. Leisure: take a brisk walk, dance, cook, listen to music, do some gardening or cooking, do regular fun stuff.

Explore what works best for you.

You might be thinking " how can doing these self- care activities help my situation"?

Experience and research strongly suggests that it does🙂

Reach out to a colleague today. Ask them how they are going. Sharing our experiences helps us cope better with the challenges and oftentimes the loneliness of providing care.

Some days are easy. Some days are hard.

When things get tough for someone you care about, reach out to see how they’re going. Ask what you can do to support them.

Thanks for this reminder The New Happy
