My (Annette) favourite place is the Murray River, particularly around Barmah Forest. This special place is Yorta Yorta country and they have provided some gorgeous camping spots in the Forest. Unfortunately I won't be spending time there this Easter long weekend but even though I don't celebrate Easter myself I will be enjoying the gorgeous autumn weather and enjoying some peace and quiet. What is your favourite place?

OutScribe WorkSpace will not be having a break and there are transcriptionists who will be slogging away at the keyboard over the Easter weekend, rather than enjoying their favourite place, so you are able to upload your audio files.

Emails and phone calls, however, will be attended to on Tuesday.

Wow, what a year! Much has been said about all that 2020 was and in all honesty we have no idea what 2021 will look like but this much we do know, as a nation we can stand proud.

OFFICE HOURS

You can access your WorkSpace to upload audio files and download completed transcripts at any time. There are transcriptionists who are ready to work on your jobs.

From Friday 25th through to Monday 11th January emails and voicemails will be monitored and responded to when the Manager (aka Annette) puts her book down. There's a few books on the list to browse through but Call of the Reed Wabler by Charles Massy has just arrived in the mail so perfect timing.

What a year 2020 has been. The drought has been broken in most of Australia, we've endured horrendous bushfires, seen communities rally in a truly spectacular way and now dealing with COVID head-on. Makes you thankful and proud to be an Aussie.

OutScribe, along with a large portion of Australian industries, was hit with a COVID downturn but we are now picking up and busier than we've ever been. Talk about riding the waves! And just because we're based in the Adelaide Hills I'm going to mix the metaphors of sea and country. We're making hay while the sun shines!

There's lots of perks to working from home and one of them is being able to watch Mumma Magpie raising her chicks. (hidden in the top branches but she's there sitting on her nest!) There's downsides to WFH and it can be isolating but taking in nature for a few minutes here and there throughout the day is rejuvenating :)

A large portion of our working population are now experiencing iso and working from home. The people who transcribe your transcripts, and the administration/IT personnel, are veteran WFHers and could tell you a story or two about the importance of setting up a home office and realistic expectations. Grappling with cats who think the keyboard is a masseuse table is a constant struggle though.
But if you suddenly find yourself in need of an adjustable desk you can't go past an ironing board. If you want a broader work surface you can simply remove the cloth covering and foam, then screw a bit of timber on and voila - got yourself an awesome adjustable fold up desk!

We're all on deck for our clients but there's a surcharge for DIY tips for setting up home office spaces though!

As the world grapples with the growing COVID-19 pandemic it is a vivid reminder of how small our ball of dirt is and how interconnected humanity is.

It brings its own challenges for qualitative researchers and consultants as well. It may not be advisable or practical to record interviews or conduct meetings face-to-face, but you can use the phone or Skype. Mind you, at times it can seem like a dark art to get good quality phone or Skype recordings but we can help demystify it for you so you can get the best results.

But one thing we can't help you with is how not to touch your face so much....that is a challenge all of its own!
