Emily Steven Dietetics and Fitness Helping you achieve better health through nutrition and movement. Under a different name 30X.Fitness has been around for about 15 years.

As a Dietitian and Personal Trainer, I’m dedicated to empowering you to feel your best both today and in the long term Together with Brett Aitken (Olympic Gold Medalist) we created the worlds largest interactive cycling website. From that website we started a business together creating websites for the fitness industry. Our site regularly got 100,000 visitors a month. Some of those websites ended up becoming very popular, including one we made for the ex host of 'The Biggest Loser', Ajay Rochester. As part of these site we developed nutrition and training systems. Our system was even featured on a Current Affair, which was very exciting, but I have to be honest the site crashed with over 50,000 people visiting it in one hour.. Eventually I sold business the Brett, but I kept tinkering with the code and the system (based on the food groups). One thing I learned when we were creating the nutrition system is that there is no real secret to weight loss. You need to eat more fruit and veg and exercise, instead of getting tied up in the fine points. Some fruit and veg has 30 times less calories than choclolate, hence the name 30X.Fitness. I thought that really summed fitness up for me, it's about the basics. 30X is a huge difference and is a quick way to show people that by simply eating more veg that might just solve all their problems. I'm still working on the system and hope to offer it as a website solution in the not to distant future. So I think the 30X name is a great way to promote my system.

This years running events recap 🏃🏼‍♀️📅

Last year I didn’t do any running events so I made it a point to do more this year 🫡

Training for something definitely gives motivation, but I’ve also made an effort to enjoy the process without so much pressure 😊

Navigating the Festive Season 🎄🥂

A few meals or days won’t undo your health. Enjoying festive foods, keeping some routine where it feels helpful, and letting go where it doesn’t is all part of balance ⚖️

See this time of year as an opportunity to practise flexibility, tune into hunger and fullness, and remember that health is shaped by what we do most of the time, not just one small period 📅

Save this as a gentle reminder over the holidays 🎄

Loaded sweet potato 🍠 🥑 🍅🍋‍🟩

Makes 4

Ingredients:
- 2 sweet potatoes
- 2 avocados
- 2 tomatoes
- 1 slice red onion, finely diced
- 1 brown onion, finely diced
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 bunch parsley
- 1 cup cheese
- 500g chicken breast, minced
- 400g tin black beans
- Sour cream
- Lime
- Olive oil

To make:
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
2. Part-cook the sweet potatoes: Pierce each potato with a fork, then microwave for 5 minutes or until just tender. Cut in half and transfer to a baking tray and bake for 14–20 minutes, or until the skins are crisp and the edges are lightly browned.
3. Prepare the chicken filling: Finely dice the onion and heat a drizzle of olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened. Stir in the garlic and chicken mince, breaking it up with a spoon. Season with ½ tsp paprika, ½ tsp cumin, all-purpose seasoning, and salt and pepper to taste. Cook until the mince is browned and fully cooked through the mix in the black beans.
4. Make the guacamole: Mash the avocados in a bowl, then add a squeeze of lime juice and a pinch of salt.
5. Prepare the salsa: Finely dice the tomatoes and 1 slice of red onion. Toss together with chopped parsley.
6. Grate approximately 1 cup of cheese
7. Assemble: Halve the cooked sweet potatoes. Fill each with the chicken mixture, then add salsa and cheese. Top with guacamole and a dollop of sour cream.

Motivation comes from action (not the other way around) 🔁

Ever notice how after a day of sitting, scrolling, or staring at a screen you feel tired and unmotivated? That’s a completely normal feeling🫢

Motivation rarely appears out of nowhere. It comes from action. Even the smallest step such as standing up, moving, doing one tiny productive thing can spark momentum🚶🏻

If you’re feeling drained, try something small. A 15 minute walk or a stretch. These little actions are the fuel that drive motivation and make the next step easier.

Action comes first, motivation follows 🔁

Meal Prep Doesn’t Have to Be Complicated 🍳+ 🍠+ 🥬

It’s about setting yourself up so healthy eating feels easy during a busy week via some simple preparation

Simple steps to start:
1. Batch cook a protein (chicken, salmon, tofu, eggs)
2. Prep some veg (wash, chop, roast, or steam)
3. Cook a grain in bulk (rice, quinoa, barley)
4. Use different sauces, herbs, or dressings
5. Mix & match combinations

It doesn’t have to be perfect. Even prepping one thing (like chopping veggies or cooking rice) can make weekday meals so much easier 💛
