We are happy to welcome Suzanne Weeks to our practice!

Suzanne is a caring and compassionate psychologist whose friendly, kind manner makes it very easy to connect with her. She has many years of helping people grow and overcome difficulties by understanding the way their life stories shaped them. Her intuitive, gentle insights guide her clients to wellness and to becoming the best versions of themselves.

Suzanne works with teens and adults with challenges including anxiety, depression, stress, anger, trauma, LGBTQ+ challenges, addictions, eating disorders, self-harm, interpersonal relationships, life transitions, parenting difficulties, and grief and loss. She is also extensively trained and experienced in couple's counselling.

Suzanne assists individuals from 13 years and older, and couples.

Psychologist providing Gottman Couple's Counselling
Suzanne is extensively trained and experienced in working with couples to grow their emotional connection and become happier together. She provides a safe and non-judgemental space for couples to explore how their relationship became stuck, and how to repair, and strengthen it, by exploring the life experiences and habits that may have led them to current issues and providing practical ways to move beyond that. Suzanne is skilled at guiding couples in ways to improve communication, increase intimacy and affection, manage conflict without harm, and strengthening their friendship and emotional connection.

The Gottman Method for couples focusses on teaching specific skills that foster a sense of friendship and teamwork. This may include exercises like building "love maps", which is a way to deeply get to know each other's likes, dislikes, passions, fears, important memories, longings, and dreams, as well as likes and dislikes, favourite hobbies, and even music preferences. This builds a sense of intimacy, acceptance and friendship which is foundational to a happy relationship.

She also guides couples to insight about where communication has become stuck and destructive, by understanding habits that Gottman has named "the four horseman": criticism, contempt, defensiveness, and stonewalling, and replacing them with with gentle, constructive and loving communication.

Suzanne welcomes all couples from different backgrounds, ages, and sexual/gender orientations.

We often stress about things we can't change, but what if we shifted that energy towards what we can control?

By focusing on what is within our power (our actions, attitudes, and responses) we can navigate challenges with greater clarity and calm and let go of external factors beyond our control.

What else would you add to this list? 🌤🌱
