Feeling Bloated even when you are doing all the right things? 🙄

You eat healthy, you have cut gluten and you no longer drink alcohol, but you could still pass for 6 months pregnant by the end of the day.

While diet is important and what you eat can certainly affect bloating, if you are still finding you are regularly bloated and not sure why, it might be time to look into other causes.

Bloating can have a number of causes including food intolerances and sensitivities, an imbalance in gut bacteria present in the gut, hormonal changes, constipation and digestive disorders just to name a few.

Yet what if you were told that the lymphatic system may play a part in your bloating and gut issues!

Your lymphatic system plays a big role in digestion, inflammation and how heavy the body feels.

Our lymphatic system is part of our immune system and is responsible for balancing fluid and removing waste products from the body.

When lymph flow becomes sluggish, waste and fluid can hang around a lot longer than they should.

This can lead to bloating puffiness and discomfort.

You can better support your immune system by drinking more water and staying hydrated, regular movement/exercise along with regular lymphatic massage.

Re Introduction Post 👋👋

First of all, thank you for being here.

As I have not kept on top of being regularly active on my page in the last year, and with a few new faces, it's time to get more active. What better way to do that, than start by re introducing myself. 😃

For anyone who doesn’t know me, I am Sarah, a Clinical Nutritionist, Beauty/Massage Therapist, Step mum and founder of Nutritious Vitality.

I live in Adelaide, South Australia, currently offering my Nutrition services both online and in person out of my home-based business in Seaford Meadows and a couple of days a week out of a clinic in Mile End. Oh yeah and you may also find me at Go Vita Marion.

With almost 20 years' experience in the health and wellness industry, for anyone living in Adelaide, I also offer massage and facials and have a beautiful wellness space in my home where you can also have a nice peaceful red-light therapy//infrared sauna session. Gift vouchers are available too.

When it comes to nutrition, I have a particular interest and focus on
gut 💩health, with a fascination on how it affects every area of our health. When your gut is in poor health, your overall health suffers.

While my particular jam is all things digestive health including helping with bloating, IBS, constipation etc, I also love working with skin issues, nutrient deficiencies, healthy weight management, blood sugar imbalances and metabolism, lymphatic health and detox support. With all these things having a relationship with the health of the gut.

Last year I added Brazilian lymphatic drainage massage to my offerings as I wanted to be able to offer my clients something more when it comes to achieving better overall health.

Brazilian Lymphatic Massage can be of benefit on its own or used in conjunction with nutrition to help achieve better results for gut health issues, hormonal imbalances, weight loss struggles, fluid retention, skin issues and it also supports a healthy immune system.

If you would like to know more about how I can help you with your overall health and wellness needs, would like to book a massage or facial, or would just like to say hi, please do get in touch.

And if you know anyone who would benefit from being here or using one of my services, I would love it if you would invite them over to get in touch and/or follow my page.

I look forward to welcoming more clients into my business in 2026.

Do you struggle with gut 💩 issues? Try these gut friendly food swaps for not only a calmer gut and less bloating but also better overall health with a focus on real wholefoods.

Wheat based pasta ❎ >> pasta alternatives that are naturally gluten free including pasta made out of buckwheat, quinoa, rice, veggies, or konjac ✅

Nuttelex/margarine ❎ >> for pure grassfed butter or ghee ✅

Cow's milk ❎ >> goats' milk or plant-based alternatives like almond or coconut. ✅(Choose clean brands with the least ingredients).

Boxed cereal & cereal grains ❎ >> wholegrain rolled oats used to make overnight oats, muesli or porridge. ✅ (If oats don't agree with you, you can use quinoa flakes as an alternative) or a chia seed pudding.

Processed Seed oils like canola, rapeseed, sunflower etc ❎ >> extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil. ✅

Chicken stock (still okay if all clean ingredients) ❎ >> for Bone Broth ✅ (gut healing- although not okay if histamine issues).

Try these swaps and let me know how you go.

So, it's now mid Jan and most people are back at work and back into the swing of things after a good few weeks of overindulging over the xmas/new year period.

If your💩gut is feeling a bit off after all the holiday celebrations and get togethers, here are just a few things you can do right now to help get your gut back on track.

1️⃣ Upping your fibre intake in your diet. Ideally you want to aim for 25-30g per day at minimum. If your gut is a bit sensitive when it comes to fibre you can start and increase slowly.

2️⃣ Get on top of hydration. Aim for 2 litres of clean filtered water per day and more if exercising. Add a pinch of salt or electrolytes for extra hydration.

3️⃣ Feed the gut with probiotic rich foods into your diet to help create a more balanced gut microbiome. Include things like yoghurt, kefir, kombucha, fermented veggies including sauerkraut and kimchi etc

4️⃣Include periods of fasting between meals by skipping the all-day grazing and allowing 3-4hrs in between meals so your migrating motor complex (intestinal cleaning wave) can do its job properly of getting rid of any leftover food and debris left after a meal. if not removed undigested food can sit and ferment leaving you feeling bloated and gassy.

5️⃣ Get your body moving regularly to keep digestion working properly and keep bowel movement regular. Regular exercise increases diversity in the gut enhancing the amount of good gut bugs in your gut.

6️⃣ Avoid alcohol or cut right back down. Minimising alcohol will help reduce inflammation caused to the gut lining and improve nutrient absorption.

Hope these tips helped.

If you need further help with this, send me a DM to find out more how I can help you get your gut back on track.

🌟BREAKING NEWS! 🌟 If you are a little late to the party..the US announced this week that they have flipped the food pyramid with the new dietary recommendations focusing on REAL 🥦 FOOD!

This is Exciting News...and while it is not perfect, this is a huge improvement as we finally recognise the need for more protein in more optimal levels, getting rid of ultra processed foods and the importance of healthy fats with full fat recommended over low fat. Full fat being in its most natural form.

Can't wait to see how this change comes into place influencing the types of foods served in schools.

While there is no one size fits all and nutrition should be personalised to the individual, one thing that I always tell my nutrition clients and should be the same for all is to eat real foods in their most whole natural form.

Now its Australia's turn! 🙏

My Story

I’m Sarah Horgan, an Adelaide based Accredited Nutritional Medicine Practitioner, a Step Mum and founder of Nutritious Vitality. My mission is to educate and inspire you to take control of your health so you can be the best version of you!

I have worked in the health and wellness industry for over 13 years. While my background is working as a beauty, skin and spa therapist, I have continued to grow my interest in health, wellness, natural therapies and how the body works, over the years. After also having struggled with some of my own health issues, I went on to study Nutritional Medicine, where today I now practice as a Nutritional Medicine Practitioner and Health Coach.

A BIT ABOUT MY HEALTH STRUGGLES:

My whole life I have always been of a smaller build and never had to worry about my weight. Although I have never eaten terrible, I never really ever had to worry about the food choices I was making because I didn’t put on weight. Well that’s what I though, until I started suffering some of my own health issues over the years from stubborn acne, to terrible inflamed dermatitis, digestive issues for many years and more recently recognised hormonal imbalances, all of which are influenced by diet, which strongly influences the health of the gut. The health of your gut influences the state of your overall health.
