🌟 Celebrating Granville’s Outstanding Volunteers at the 2025 St John NSW State Awards! 🌟

This year, Granville Division is proud to celebrate an incredible group of volunteers whose service, leadership, and compassion have been recognised at the highest level across St John NSW.

✨ 30 Years of Service – Isabelle Moutia
A remarkable milestone! Isabelle will receive her fourth bar to the Service Medal, recognising three decades of exceptional dedication to St John—much of it spent in key EHS leadership roles that have shaped and strengthened both our organisation and our division.

🏆 2025 NSW Metropolitan Volunteer of the Year – Alan Law
Alan’s two decades of exceptional service, leadership, and clinical excellence, particularly his work overseeing hundreds of major events at Qudos Bank Arena and mentoring volunteers across Granville, have earned him the title of 2025 St John NSW Metropolitan Volunteer of the Year. His calm professionalism, operational expertise, and unwavering commitment to community care set the benchmark for volunteer leadership across St John NSW.

🌱 2025 Peter Falkland State Youth Leader of the Year – Anica Sampson
A passionate, visionary youth leader, Anica continues to inspire through innovation, mentorship, and community impact. We are so proud to see her recognised for her leadership across Youth programs.

🎉 Bronze Commendation – Damien Rodgers-Wood
If you’ve ever seen St John shine at the Sydney Mardi Gras, you’ve seen Damien's work in action. His passion and commitment to this iconic event has earned him a well-deserved commendation this year!

💚 Meritorious Care Award – Charlie Morrison
Our own cadet, Charlie, has been recognised for providing lifesaving care to a schoolmate experiencing a severe asthma attack. An incredible achievement for one of our youngest members.

🏅 Grand Prior Award – Hayden Li
The highest honour a St John Cadet can earn! Hayden’s years of commitment, attaining twelve proficiency subjects highlight not only his skills, but his growth into a confident, compassionate young leader.

🌪️ Cyclone Alfred Emergency Response Certificates – Ryan Kzx, Kathy Lung & Jeremy Kelly
When Cyclone Alfred struck northern NSW, these three Granville volunteers stepped up, deploying to support affected communities. Their resilience and service have been formally recognised at this year’s ceremony.

Today, we pause to remember.

On Remembrance Day, we honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

We pay particular tribute to the many men and women from St John Ambulance Brigades across Australia who served in the Royal Australian Army Medical and Nursing Services, and the Voluntary Aid Detachments during both World Wars.

Their commitment to caring for others, often in the most difficult of circumstances, reflects the values that continue to guide St John today.

This year marks a century of St John youth. To honour this incredible milestone, Granville Combined Division last night held a special centenary event hosted by Lynda Voltz MP, Member for Auburn, celebrating the achievements of our dedicated youth members.

Each participant received a commemorative pin and certificate to mark the occasion. A special congratulations to Hayden Li, who was awarded his Grand Prior Award the highest honour a St John Youth member can achieve.

We were proud to welcome distinguished guests:

This week is Child Safety Week, a reminder that protecting children is everyone’s responsibility. 💚

At St John, we’re committed to keeping kids safe. Whether that’s through our Youth Programs, first aid training for parents and carers, or providing the right equipment to respond in an emergency.

Every child deserves to grow up safe, supported, and cared for. Let’s use this week to raise awareness, share knowledge, and empower families and communities to put child safety first.

🌍 International Youth Day 2025 🌍

Today, we celebrate the incredible energy, dedication, and impact of young people across the globe and right here in our own community.

This year is especially meaningful as we mark the Centenary of the St John Youth Program, 100 years of empowering young leaders through service, skill-building, and community care.

📸 Featured here is our amazing St John Youth Team in action at last Sunday's City to Surf, one of Sydney’s biggest events. These young volunteers weren’t just spectators they were on the front lines, providing hands-on operational support alongside our adult members.

The St John Youth Program is more than just youth development. It’s a movement where young people gain real-world experience, contribute meaningfully to public safety, and embody the values of compassion and service.

💚 To our youth members: thank you for your commitment, your courage, and your contribution. You are the future of St John and the heart of our mission.

We are excited to again provide Event Health Services and a public engagement stand at BSTREETSMART.

BSTREETSMART is the inspiring initiative of the Trauma Service at Westmead Hospital. Westmead’s Trauma Service is constantly reminded through their hands on work that young people aged between 15–30 are disproportionally represented in road trauma. As a result, they have a strong commitment to Road Safety Education.

The purpose of bstreetsmart is to reduce the fatality and injury rates of young people by promoting safe behaviour as drivers, riders and passengers.

This last weekend, we were thrilled to celebrate a very special milestone for one of our own. Long standing St John Ambulance member Damien tied the knot with his partner Joshua, surrounded by family, friends, and plenty of joy. ✨

Damien has been a valued part of our St John family for many years, dedicated, compassionate, and always ready to support the organisation and the community. Seeing him take this next step with Joshua fills us all with pride and happiness.

We’re thrilled to see Kathy Garancsi recognised for her incredible contribution to the NSW SES!

Kathy has been a dedicated and inspiring leader within SES for many years, and her support of local community organisations like ours at St John Ambulance Granville Division has made a lasting impact.

Without the support of both Kathy and Jamie Newman, current NSW SES Auburn Unit Commander, St John Granville Division may not have continued to serve our community the way it does today.
