I am a busy mother of three children. Following the birth of my third child, I started to reflect on parenthood and the journey I had taken to get where I am. What I started to realise is that parenthood starts long before you hold that baby in your arms. Pregnancy and childbirth is an amazing experience, both physically and emotionally and the fear and anxiety often associated with it has a true and lasting effect on both labour and parenting. Having started my career as a social worker for women and children, and then moving into the corporate world of medical sales and marketing, I realised the massive gap that exists for women and families to navigate the medical system, birthing without fear and feeling supported. Through extensive research, I realised that a doula can help women and families to navigate themselves on this journey.

My proud Aussie post! While we are currently juggling the emotions and struggles of a pandemic… it was an absolute joy to watch these Olympics with my family. At times it is hard to understand who and why my kids have as role models.. but our Aussie Olympic team provided us with so many moments of strength, resilience and sportsmanship.
Homeschooling was probably lacking a little while the Olympics were on…but who can complain about learning about team work, mentorship and dedication!

Trying to act professional… as part of our course we offer a birth planning session as a follow up. Given the current situation in Sydney.. I was doing this from home. These two were destroying any hope of me seeming to be in control… closing the door to my study is not an option.. the kids get it.. but the fur kids don’t! But it was lovely to see a couple via zoom, and go through their birth planning with them!

Yesterday I did day 2 of a private Hypnobirthing class.. I love it when couples have done some homework in between my visits! These are affirmations they will have hanging around the house while they wait for bub to make their arrival! Not everyone loves a group glass.. and I offer private sessions in your house to help you prepare for a positive birth.
