At 4 years old, children are developing big language skills!
⭐By this age, many children can:
• Answer questions about daily routines
• Understand most wh- questions
• Use longer sentences with words like and, but and because
• Talk about recent events
• Ask lots of questions
• Use pronouns (he/she, me/you) and simple negatives
• Count to five and name some colours
• Start noticing rhyming or similar sounds in words
⭐Tip for parents:
You don’t need to read every word of a book; talking about the pictures your child is interested in builds just as much language! Every child develops at their own pace, but if you have concerns about your child’s speech or language, early support can make a big difference
