Iām sitting here thinking about this morning and how when my phone read that it felt like 5°, and I was snuggled up under my covers, I immediately started listings reasons for why I wouldnāt get up.
āItās cold. Letās stay in our warm beds. Go next weekā.
The minute that started I got up. I knew I had to. We have been talking in sessions this week about āmotivationā. A client had heard the quote āmotivation comes after the actionā. Itās been in my head all week this week. This quote is something I have used many times with clients. But for me personally, Iāve carried some heavy stuff over the last few years. The last few weeks even heavier. And sometimes Iāve been guilty of waiting for that perfect moment. Waiting for motivation to smack me in the face and say we are ready. Especially through the hard.
But that quote just really stuck with me this week because we all know it. We all know that motivation doesnāt come first. Motivation comes once weāve done the uncomfortable. Once weāve done the action.
So as soon as those reasons crept in, and the āexcusesā started, I got up. I got dressed and I let go of the thought that it was too cold & that I didnāt want to go. I knew at that point, thatās exactly what I had to do.
It doesnāt matter how many years Iāve been doing this, sometimes when the outside world feels heavy I get stuck too and Iāve always been real with all of you that this is the reality of it. Weāre all human beings. Itās important to find a tribe that you can lean on when you feel like youāve been a bit stuck.
There are no rules to coming to Benderās. You donāt owe me anything to come along whenever. You donāt have to see me three times a week to come to a Retreat. You donāt owe me a PT session every week to say yes to a hike. You donāt owe me a single thing to come for a coffee and catch up. Iām always about leaning on each other, whatever way we can. And if that for you can be something I offer, send me a message.
I promise you, no one has it together all of the time. It might be what you see on social media, but itās not real. So stop waiting for that perfect moment to do something you may love. Find likeminded people. Put yourself first. Take the first step. Feeling motivated comes after the action. š
This šš¼ is the beauty of waking up and doing my uncomfortable today. āToo cold, tired, rundown, too sad, too hardā quickly turned in to āfresh air, clear head, beautiful scenery and a wonderful morningā. Iām so glad I worked through my āhardā this morning and didnāt miss this.
Have a good Sunday beautiful people. šš
