A few weeks ago, I accepted a part-time position as family counsellor with a local Bayside not-for-profit called BABI. I am still with Zest Infusion on Mondays and Fridays. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, you can find me at BABI on Bay Terrance in Wynnum. BABI supports young people and families living in the Redlands and Brisbane's Bayside. They offer dedicated youth support and engagement programs facilitated by compassionate youth workers and housing teams to provide medium-term housing options for young people and families. I will be offering reduced-cost parenting programs as well as free counselling to parents living in the Redlands Coast area and Wynnum/Manly. After heading to a music festival last week we were chatting in the car about hard times and how we got through the loss, heartbreak and difficulties in our lives. We all worked in the helping industry so we agreed on the importance of supportive friends and work buddies, family, exercise, good food, sleep. 😴 I was ruminating on these things the next day swimming my laps. I realised that no matter what else I did to support myself I couldn't have done it without music. For me, it's always been music. Soothing heartbreak, easing anxiety, processing sadness and motivating me to move, exercise, keep going, pushing through life, lulling me to sleep or lifting me into joy and celebration. I'm grateful for musicians, for artists, for writers every day. 💕 I am also guilty of repeating songs obsessively. Farewell Heidi, George and Socks! I am very grateful to Skills4Life for hosting me for the last 2+ years in their beautiful practice. However, I will no longer be working at Ormiston on Tues/Thursdays. You can find me at Zest Infusion psychology, Birkdale on Monday afternoon/nights from 1-5.30pm and Friday 8am - 2pm. When my children were little I would read a story at night then tell a makeup story. The made up story was usually about naughty children who didn't clean their rooms being swallowed up by a swamp monster but sometimes they were fantasy stories disguising my daily adventures at work as a maketing manager. Happy Father's Day to all who play a role as a father figure, dads, grandfathers, uncles, big brothers, step-dads, and solo parents who do some heavy lifting! 🙏🏼 Sending lots of love to those who spent the day missing their Dads or have an empty chair at the table. Last week, we wrapped up our 6-week Mindful Moments course at Zest Infusion. What a wonderful way to complete this educational meditation course, learning how to use breath to calm the nervous system and concluding with a grounding tree meditation, envisaging our branches reaching skyward and strong roots tethering us deep within the earth. 🌳

This week in our Zest Infusion Mindful Moments workshop, we learned about the seven chakras, or energy centres of the body, what they represent and how we can support ourselves as energetic beings. We finished off the night with a rainbow meditation, visualising the colours of the chakras cleansing and clearing our energy 🌈. I'm looking forward to demonstrating breathwork next week in our final session showing how the breath calms our nervous system to support stress and anxiety.
