Every family deserves a place to belong, laugh, learn and grow — no matter where they live or what language they speak. That’s what Play for All is all about: local and universal access to playgroups and peer support across every corner of NSW.

Playgroup NSW has a long tradition of supporting culturally and linguistically diverse families, with playgroup experiences offered in 20+ languages and cultures — from Arabic and Chinese to Spanish, Greek, Korean and more — because play is richer when everyone’s story is part of it.

Whether families are newly arrived, speaking English as a second language, or coming from different cultural backgrounds, our playgroups are places where connections are made, languages are shared, friendships are formed — and every child has the chance to play, thrive and belong.

National Playgroup Week is coming up (16–22 March), and this year we’re celebrating Play for All — the belief that every child, every family and every community deserves the chance to grow, belong and thrive through play.

With 700+ playgroups in 99% of NSW postcodes, we’re proud to help make play accessible almost everywhere families live. But Play for All is more than access — it’s a commitment to what play creates.

Play for All means children are safe, supported and free to explore. It means parents feel confident, connected and backed by a community that understands the early years. It means children of every ability, culture and family structure can show up exactly as they are — and know they belong.

It means Aboriginal children and families experience strong cultural identity and connection to Country woven through their play. It means families who need extra support find it early, gently and without stigma. And it means playgroups act as a trusted starting point, guiding families toward the right services at the right time.
Most of all, Play for All means that when we invest in strong playgroups, we invest in strong children, strong parents and strong communities.

To celebrate National Playgroup Week, we’ll be sharing more about what Play for All means every weekday morning from Monday — so stay tuned!

National Playgroup Week (16th - 22nd March 2026) is a chance to shine a light on something we know makes a real difference: the power of playgroups to support all children, in all families, in all communities to thrive in their first 2,000 days.

This year’s theme, Play for All, highlights the importance of creating welcoming, inclusive spaces where every family feels they belong. Playgroups are not just about play; they’re about connection, learning, confidence-building, and community resilience.

Join us in marking this special week with a playful, joy-filled lineup of events and activities. We’re kicking things off with a celebration at New South Wales Parliament, where a panel of celebrity dads will share stories, laughs, and insights about the power of play. And that’s just the beginning!

We’re also rolling out a heap of new resources, family-friendly webinars, and advocacy initiatives designed to champion Play for All in every corner of NSW. Keep an eye out for all our National Playgroup Week happenings — there’s plenty of fun, community, and play magic coming your way!
