To be an effective practitioner…

Of course, you need to follow some kind of structure, but don’t let systems absorb all of your focus.

Many new docs focus too much on what they’re saying. This robs you of your authenticity as well as your connection with the client.

It’s much more about how you speak, how you say the words. Above all however, in communication the most important thing is the meaning you ascribe to the words you say, the belief behind them and intent.

Fifth years, your final exams are here, what an exciting moment!!

There’s a few important pointers here you need to know…

This is such a milestone in life! Welcome to an amazing profession!

The truth is however, many new grads start out with a lot of uninformed optimism. It’s very common (I was there too), but the reality is that exam scores, adjusting setups and quizzes don’t translate into what really matters, getting results for your patients and educating your community.

Your first six months will likely humble many of you. If you go in with that awareness, you’re likely to have a far better first year and be less likely to lose confidence or burn out when challenges arise.

When choosing your first associateship, focus on what you can learn, not what you can earn. Your long-term income will be a a bigger reflection of your philosophy and skill set, rather than your commission percentage.

We’re not planning to hire any Chiropractors for some time, so if you’re a fifth year and looking for some genuine, unbiased guidance and direction, I’m happy to help point you the right direction 🧑‍🎓

Patient understanding…

Chiropractic and the Chiropractic philosophy is misunderstood by our patients. I see that approximately 95% of patients initially only have a surface level, pain based awareness of health.

That’s why it’s essential we use our communication skills to bridge that gap, helping them truly understand and experience Chiropractic to its fullest potential.

We do this by focusing on our intention, not just the scripts we’re taught. When you clearly understand the one key thing your patient needs to grasp, center your conversation on that and the right words will naturally follow ☺️

Let’s talk numbers…

Exciting times are ahead 5th years!

Docs let’s be honest, you didn’t spend 5 years at uni to be stuck in an associateship that has you struggling to pay rent and working 2 jobs to make ends meet because of a poor business model.

Developing the skill of being able to detect which positions are likely to lead to a fulfilling and rewarding career and which ones aren’t is vital.

Changing positions slows down your momentum, drains your confidence and adds a lot of stress.

Many practices offering 50-60%+ commission are known to have a track record of poor support or marketing budget of $0

Certainty…

Not just in how you communicate the Chiropractic lifestyle and philosophy to patients…

But certainty in your identity. In who you are and what you believe in, what you stand for. These are requirements to gain influence and find success in this profession.

New grads and final year students, if you’re unsure at the moment, that’s ok, you’re not meant to have it all figured out just yet.

In the mean time, as your certainty develops, lean on the certainty of others that a few steps ahead.

Medication saves lives!

Medication can also be a band-aid for poor lifestyle choices.

I believe that lifelong prescriptions on medications like these are responsible for the significant deterioration of the health of our communities. They’re also responsible for billions of dollars of profits for large corporations, so they’re not going anywhere.

Communicate this with your patients doc. Remind them, health does not come from a pill. It comes from within!

1️⃣ Find a mentor – success leaves clues, don’t do it alone.
2️⃣ Borrow certainty – lean on your mentor’s confidence whilst you find yours.
3️⃣ Practice as much as you can – reps are required for results.
