Today is World Down Syndrome Day 💙💛

Celebrated on 21/3, this date represents the three copies of chromosome 21 that people with Down syndrome have.

This year’s theme is “Together Against Loneliness.”

Everyone feels lonely sometimes but for people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities, loneliness can be more frequent and more painful. Their families can feel it too.

Loneliness can mean:
• Not having friends or a community to belong to
• Not having someone to share your feelings with

It’s more than just a feeling it can affect mental and physical health, leading to anxiety, depression, and reduced wellbeing.

Today is a reminder to build a more inclusive world where everyone feels seen, valued, and connected.

Let’s stand together because no one should feel alone. 💙💛

Did you know that su***de is the leading cause of death for young people in Australia? That means that each year, more young Aussies die by su***de than in car accidents or from cancer.

Hi, my name is Simone. I work for Support Solutions Australia and I also have a disability myself. I was born with Charcot Marie Tooth(CMT), a motor and sensory neurone disease. Six months ago I got into swimming laps for physical therapy. I recently heard about Laps for Life, a challenge running during March to raise funds for supporting youth mental health because we are losing too many young people to su***de. As a mum to a teenager and considering all funds raised go to ReachOut, I decided to sign up. I'm aiming to swim 200 laps a week, hopefully more. If you would like to sponsor me and help support this wonderful cause, the link is in the comments.

Thank you so much for your support.

This is what supported employment really looks like.

Through his role at our NDIS-funded café, Josh hasn’t just built job skills. He’s built confidence, independence, and the ability to plan for his future.

Every shift worked helped him save for something that is out of reach for so many: a trip to Japan 🇯🇵

Supported employment isn’t about “keeping busy.”
It’s about meaningful work, real wages, and real choice.

And sometimes… it looks like boarding a plane.✈️
