What is a MASS Assessment — and am I eligible?

A MASS assessment (Medical Aids Subsidy Scheme) is a continence nursing assessment that determines whether you’re eligible for subsidised continence products through Queensland Health.

It’s designed to support people experiencing:
- Urinary or faecal incontinence
- Pelvic floor dysfunction
- Bladder or bowel control issues related to ageing, childbirth, surgery, or medical conditions

The assessment is completed by a qualified Continence Nurse, who evaluates your symptoms, functional needs, and daily impact — not just a diagnosis.

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible for MASS continence support if you:
- Are a Queensland resident
- Have an ongoing continence condition (temporary or permanent)
- Require continence aids to support daily living
- Meet the clinical and functional criteria outlined by MASS

Eligibility is based on need and assessment findings, not income alone.

Do I need a GP referral?
No GP referral is required. You can book directly for a continence nursing assessment at Core & Wellness. If needed, we can communicate findings back to your GP or healthcare team after your assessment.
