This would have to be one of the best podcasts I have listened too! ⭐️ Getting control of our thoughts matters!!

Using a “confidence anchor” to overcome fear and anxiety! Using a “5 second rule” as a starting ritual to intercept the worries and then use excitement and visualisation to flip the negative images in the brain. This help takes control of your thoughts & stay happy!

Our physiological response around excitement & fear are the same except how we think whether positive or negative 🧠will change how the brain will process this.

If our thoughts are positive, we can take control of our anxiety & turn those chemicals into the good feeling of butterflies in our stomach vs the pit of worry or feeling of stress that negative thoughts create.

The negative thoughts cause the brain to not function properly. The stress hormone (cortisol) will flood your body intefering the pre frontal cortex (think part of your brain) causing it to scramble.

This is more than just thinking positive thoughts!!

This is a great listen! It’s been a long tough year for many. A “hurricane year ” as some psychologists have called it with many of us dragging ourselves to the line. We began 2022 with depleted nervous systems from the aftermath of the previous few years. How do we find our mojo? Block the external and go internal. Who am I? 7 ways to complete The Stress Cycle! 👏🏼

Did you know emotions have a beginning, a middle & an end. Exhaustion happens when we get “stuck in the emotion”

That removing the stressor or solving a situation does not mean you have completed the cycle. You have to do something that signals to your body that you are safe or else you’ll stay in that state with the neurochemicals and hormones degrading but never shifting into relaxation.

Your digestive system, immune system, musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system, reproductive system will never switch off! Have a listen to some simple things to decrease burnout! 😍

As lockdown 6 drags on, Austin Health Wellness Manager and Psychologist, Maria Di Pietro, believes it's important to find ways to stay mentally fit during this time.

"One of the ways to do this is by doing things which bring us joy, even amidst the current challenges. Keep it simple, whether it's a quick walk, talking to a trusted friend, watching or listening to something inspiring or finding the small things to be grateful for," she says.

Going in and out of lockdown regularly can impact on your mental and emotional health, as well as creating a sense of uncertainty.

Maria says to manage these impacts, you can find ways to keep the mind and body as calm as possible, such as connecting with supportive people, staying healthy and find other things to talk about rather than COVID.

"While this may not fit everyone, remind yourself that ‘this too shall pass’ – we have all gotten through bad times in our lives and there is an end point to every disaster or crisis,” she says.

It's also important to remember to be kind to our staff, as well as each other.

This is a great read for anyone lacking in motivation in 2021. Very relevant to our latest lockdown! The number 1 thing I do is keep releasing our feel good chemicals by exercising and breathing.

We breathe all day on our own, right? But especially when we’re stressed, our breath can become shallow and shorter than we’d like. So breathe long and steady – in through your nose, and out through your mouth. Do a set of ten to start! That extra boost of oxygen can help reduce tension and relieve stress.

Nearly there!!! 🥳

The neglected middle child of mental health can dull your motivation and focus — and it may be the dominant emotion of 2021.
