That feeling when the physio hits the good spot 😍😍

Badger is struggling with canter at the moment due to an unknown event that's left him with a slight change to his pelvic posture and subsequent soreness and restriction into his back. Can you see the difference on one side of his pelvis in the 2nd photo?

With a bit of physio this beautiful boy will be back to his happy, cheeky self! 🐎🐴

Ever heard of a TPLO or had a dog undergo one? These radiographs are of a dog 11 weeks post TPLO (tibial plateau levelling osteotomy) that has been undergoing physiotherapy post surgery.

TPLO is one of the common surgeries used to correct stifle biomechanics following a cruciate ligament rupture. This procedure alters the angles within the stifle, eliminating the need for a cruciate ligament and immediately stabilising the joint so there is no laxity present during weightbearing.

In these images, you can clearly see the plate used to stabilise the osteotomy, allowing for early mobilisation on a stable knee. Physiotherapy is incredibly important following this surgery (and any orthopaedic surgery) to address joint range of motion, weightbearing/gait retraining, muscle atrophy and weakness and gradual return to function whilst protecting the opposite stifle. Physio can start as early as 2 weeks post TPLO and involves manual therapy and exercise prescription.

Has your dog had or been recommended to have a TPLO? Contact me today to find out more about how physio can aid recovery.

Slipping on tiled or wooden floors is often a major contributor to ongoing pain and injury exacerbation. Here, Lilli and Soxy are modelling their brand new grippy socks to help prevent all that slipping and sliding! One is more impressed than the other, I think 🤔🐕🐶

Oh, to be a dog asleep in the aircon! 😍🐕🐶 These two lovely puppa's have been undergoing physio for elbow pain and a recent TPLO surgery.

TPLO (tibial plateau levelling osteotomy) is a common surgical procedure used to correct a cruciate ligament rupture (the canine equivalent of an ACL rupture in humans). Early physiotherapy intervention is incredibly important following a TPLO, ideally starting around 2 weeks post surgery.

With a very diligent owner, strict activity and home modification and a home exercise program, both girls are progressing wonderfully!

Need help with your fur baby's post-surgical rehab? Message me today to find out how I can help 🐶🐕🦮🐕‍🦺

Who doesn't love a good neck mobilisation or leg stretch?! These two boys certainly enjoyed their physio treatment this week! 🐴🐎

For Dublin we are working on cervical and thoracolumbar mobility and for Jeri we are aiming to improve his right rein suppleness under saddle.

Are you struggling with one rein more than the other? Is half pass right stiff and awkward but the left is easy? There could be more underlying than just a horse's natural preferences. Physiotherapy can assess and treat movement patterns and restrictions, allowing you to feel confident in the saddle and giving you the right tools to address the problem!

Message me today on socials, email or via my website to find out how I can help you and your 4 legged partner!
