My journey from burnout to recovery
The impact of chronic stress ...
Are you aware of what happens to your body when you're in a state of stress? What does it feel like to you? For many, stress manifests as a physical and mental overload - something I know all too well
Several years ago, I experienced severe burnout after being stuck in a state of chronic stress, aka ‘survival mode’. I didn’t feel good in my mind or body, and looking back, I can clearly see the impact it had on me …
• I wasn’t sleeping well, often waking up feeling utterly exhausted
• I felt disconnected and dissociated from my body, as if I were simply going through the motions of life
• My mind was constantly overthinking, catastrophising even the smallest of issues
• I turned to alcohol to numb myself and escape the constant mental chaos
• My thoughts were clouded by brain fog and I lived in a state of constant anxiety
• I was barely functioning, doing only the bare minimum to get through each day
• From the outside I looked completely fine, but inside I was far from okay
Does any of this sound familiar to you?
It took me a good six to eight months to decompress from this relentless state of stress. I made major life changes - I quit my job, changed my eating habits, gave up alcohol and started moving my body daily. Slowly, I began to tune back into my body, recognising how it reacted to stressful triggers and learning how to bring my nervous system back to a state of calm
One of the most important lessons I learned during this journey was to put myself first. I started filling my own cup, setting boundaries, and learning to say ‘no’ - a difficult step for a former people-pleaser and chronic fixer! I also began to recognise my triggers and notice when I was slipping back into old, unhealthy patterns
Recovering from long-term stress wasn’t easy. It required deep self-reflection, forcing me to evaluate what I was allowing in my life, how I spoke to myself, and what I believed to be true about myself and my life situation. But this journey taught me how essential it is to prioritise your mental, emotional, and physical well-being
You don’t have to endure stress and burnout on your own. This weekend, we have a one-day retreat designed just for you my love - to help you reconnect with yourself, replenish your reserves, and learn practical techniques to bring your nervous system back to a calm and peaceful state of being. We’ve got you ♥
I invite you to take this opportunity to step away from survival mode and start thriving again - https://www.facebook.com/share/ADpsAVVfUSUb5phR/ - there are only a couple of spots left – pm for more info
