Rosacea - an inflammatory skin condition typically characterised as redness and flushing on the forehead and cheeks; with papules and pustules also occasionally present.
Rosacea has been associated with immune dysregulation, inflammatory reactions within the body, increased mast cell activation (think allergic response), and is associated with numerous bacterial and parasitic infections of the microbiome (which can exert an immune reaction and inflammatory response..go figure!)
Rosacea has also been associated in people with small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO - the most common cause of IBS), Coeliac disease, Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and auto immune diseases. The Skin is a direct reflection of what is happening internally, so if you have any skin concerns that may be bothering you, I URGE you to look at your gut, and what could potentially be going on, or improved.
