She’s fast‑tracked her hands‑on healthcare experience through a Certificate III in Pathology Collection, while studying biomedical science at university.

We're celebrating Ken Puddiford who is wrapping up his time as a valued Mater Volunteer. 👏

Ken has volunteered more than 3,700 hours over the past 13 years and has found the opportunity to give back to others more rewarding than he could ever express. 🥹

Volunteers like Ken selflessly give up their time to pose as patients in simulation training - giving students an opportunity to practice their skills in a safe environment.

Ken has participated in more than 130 simulations sessions with our students! 🤯

Thank you, Ken and thank you to all of our volunteers. Your generosity and dedication make everything we do possible. 💚

Ten years ago, we celebrated 60 students graduating from the Diploma of Nursing.

In 2026, that number has grown to more than 200 graduates across Brisbane, Springfield and Townsville!

Thank you to all our students and teachers for your passion, dedication and hard work to meet the growing need for skilled nurses today, and for many decades to come. 💚

For Diploma of Nursing Teacher Owen Smith, educating student enrolled nurses is about far more than what’s written in a textbook.

As we celebrate International Day of Education (24 January), we recognise the teachers who bring not just the 'what' into the classroom, but the 'why' and the 'wow.'

“We as mentors need to get our students excited about nursing; giving them the skills they need to stay calm under pressure. This is built through hands-on experience which fosters confidence through practice and education.” 💚
