Gratitude is a machete that will help you cut through a jungle of 💩 thoughts !
It’s a mental muscle that needs flexing 💪🏻🧠 otherwise it goes limp and we lose touch with the present moment.
It’s so easy to focus on what we don’t have and fall into a lack mindset (and not wrong in fact a super interesting adaptive state that’s biologically crazy impressive and amazing). It’s so intense when our thoughts can loop on what’s wrong with our lives / what could be better / “if I just had this I would be satisfied” …But this is a habit that ✨gratitude✨ is here to break! (slay!)
Noticing things you can be grateful for in negative experiences isn’t meant to invalidate/stop any emotions but rather a practice of self care!

There doesn’t need to be any guilt associated with gratitude either so it’s NOT so much
“look at what you have you should be grateful!!” vibes and MORESO “wow how lucky am I to have a car that gets me places?!” vibes. There’s no reason to feel guilty about what you have that’s good, because you deserve all of it!
Gratitude practice isn’t just writing up things you should be grateful for in a diary but a form of meditation! It could take you 20 seconds to sit with how lucky you feel for something really specific that genuinely feels really REAL. 🧘🏼♀️
Allowing the space to focus on those thoughts and doing that consistently makes that muscle grow stronger and stronger so eventually that habit cracks a bit and all of a sudden I’m now focusing on what I already have now in the present moment rather than focusing on the past or future. 🐛🦋
Just as we need to feed our bodies nutritious food we need to feed our minds nutritious thoughts! Even if it feels forced that’s okay and do it anyway!! 🥗🍲💭
I originally dismissed practicing gratitude because “well it won’t fix the problem will it”, but doing it anyway I found was a loophole to eventually knowing what it is my higher self wants!
10/10 addition to your self care routine ! Or if no routine yet then a great way to start one!! 📿💗
