It is estimated that approximately one in ten couples will experience fertility problems - luckily many of the causes of infertility are understood and advances in assisted reproductive technology can now provide support for those struggling to conceive.

So, when should you see a specialist about fertility?

🌱 If the female partner is under 35, and the couple has been trying to conceive for more than 12 months.
🌱 If the female partner is aged between 35 and 37, and the couple has been trying to conceive for six months, and particularly if the male partner is more than five years older than the female partner.
🌱 If the female partner has irregular periods or either partner has a known fertility issue.
🌱 If you have concerns, it is still best to seek advice from your general practitioner.

If you are considering becoming pregnant, and particularly if you are struggling to conceive, there are a few lifestyle changes that can help improve your fertility.

Did you know that the formation of healthy s***m takes approximately two months, and the maturation of eggs occurs roughly 100 days prior to ovulation? This means that your diet, lifestyle, and general health today will be impacting your reproductive health two-three months from now!

Male factor infertility accounts for approximately 40% of those couples failing to conceive.

🔽

To make an accurate assessment of s***m quality, scientists take a semen sample and analyse it under a microscope, from these samples they can then estimate:

⚪ the concentration of s***m
⚪ the total s***m count
⚪ the percentage of motile or moving s***m
⚪ how well the s***m can move
⚪ how much they stick together
⚪ the number of s***m that have a normal appearance

In this episode of Aspire ED Talks, Care Fertility's Dr Clare Boothroyd and Dr Jayne Berryman take a closer look at chronic pain syndrome - what it really means and how it ties in with conditions like endometriosis.

They talk about why spotting and managing chronic pain is so important, and the signs that can help recognise when a patient is struggling with it. They also dive into the challenges fertility specialists face, since treatments like surgery for endometriosis or IVF can sometimes make pain worse, and explore how doctors can better support patients living with this ongoing condition.

In this episode, we take a closer look at chronic pain syndrome—what it really means and how it ties in with conditions like endometriosis. We talk about why...

Today on October 15th, International Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day we take a moment to pause in memory of all babies gone too soon, whether through miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant loss.

At Care Fertility, we understand that grief takes many forms, and that each journey is deeply personal. We hope today offers moments of reflection and remembrance, and even small glimpses of joy in cherished memories.

As the candles of the 🕯✨ Wave of Light ✨🕯 shine across the world tonight, may their shared glow bring comfort, connection, and the reminder that you are never alone.

Care Fertility has recently undergone recertification for compliance with the Code of Practice for Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Units. The code was developed to provide a minimum standard and set criteria for independent auditors to visit the clinic on an annual basis.

We are very happy to advise that Care Fertility has met all the Critical and Good Practice criteria outlined in the code.

These external auditing processes promote continual improvement and help maintain the delivery of high quality care to patients and families.
