On behalf of Walking Football Australia Walkaroos (WFAW) and the International Walking Football Federation (IWFF), it is with great pleasure that we welcome all teams so far looking to participate in the IWFF Walking Football World Championships, to be held in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, from 28 to 31 May 2026. We are being proactive and transparent in our lead up to May 2026. All teams mentioned below have expressed interest, and now that there is significant interest we hope to hear from more Nations in the coming months. Well done to all Nations again for your EOI
This major international tournament will bring together teams from Europe, Asia, and the Pacific, including Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom.
The Championships will be hosted in partnership with Brisbane Strikers Football Club and supported by local community and football organisations across Queensland and Australia.
The event aims to promote health, inclusion, and lifelong participation through the rapidly growing sport of walking football, while strengthening international friendship and cooperation among both existing and new nations of the IWFF.
As of November 7, we are proud to announce that we now have 42 teams representing 14 nations who have expressed their interest in joining this historic tournament, the first IWFF World Championships ever to be held in the Southern Hemisphere. We are confident this will reach 50 teams by the new year.
This is an exciting milestone for the IWFF family, and we are honoured to organise it here in Australia. If successful, this event could pave the way for a rotating global championship every 5–6 years, providing an exceptional opportunity for walking football to expand worldwide.
