Heart of Australia Heart of Australia delivers specialist healthcare to people living in rural and remote communities

Heart of Australia is a rural health program that embodies the most innovative approach to frontline specialist medical service delivery. Heart of Australia delivers monthly specialist medical investigation and treatment clinics to rural and remote communities across Queensland - breaking the grip of distance that denies rural and remote-area Australians easy access to specialist services. Currently operating in Queensland with a planned expansion to other states in the foreseeable future.

Earlier this year we shared that our mobile CT clinic, HEART 5, crossed an ocean to deliver a heart and lung screening clinic on Palm Island with the support of our partners at Johnson & Johnson Australia🧡

The outcomes of the clinic proved that ensuring screening programs such as these are accessible in remote areas is vital to shaping a healthcare system that is equitable for all. A big thank you to Johnson & Johnson and Palm Island Community Company for supporting these clinics on the ground and making it a success for all participants involved.

A state-of-the-art mobile clinic is heading to remote WA, including the Pilbara and Kimberley, to deliver life-saving lung cancer screenings.

We were delighted to receive this message from the Honourable Mark Butler MP, Minister for Health and Ageing, Minister for Disability and the National Disability Insurance Scheme, to share with our guests at the Heart of Australia Gala last weekend.

We are extremely proud to be the official provider for the Commonwealth Government for mobile lung cancer screening in rural and remote Australian communities. Next Monday we will deliver our first official lung cancer screening clinic in Western Australia in the community of Halls Creek, 685km inland from Broome.

We look forward bringing this life-saving program to the doorsteps of rural and remote Australians as we continue to roll out our mobile CT clinics nationwide.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2025 Heart of Australia Gala on Saturday night!

It was a brilliant evening unveiling the first of our national mobile clinics that will venture beyond Queensland's borders - HEART 7 🧡

HEART 7 was officially launched on the night by Dr Gomes and Kim Gates, Executive Manager of Health and Wellbeing at the Aboriginal Health Council of Western Australia, before it soon heads off on its journey to Western Australia, bringing access to life-saving lung cancer screenings to some of the most rural and remote parts of the state as part of the Australian Government's National Lung Cancer Screening Program.

A big thank you to our Heart Team, our partners, government supporters, and friends who were there to help us celebrate an amazing year of wins, and to our MC for the night – ABC Landline's host Pip Courtney – for keeping the room engaged all night long.

A special thank you to the Honourable Tim Nicholls MP, Queensland Minister for Health and Ambulance Services and Member for Clayfield, Kim Gates, and all of our other speakers on the night who shared their insights and passion for expanding healthcare services, and the work they do to ensure accessible healthcare for all.

Stay tuned for the full photo album which will be coming soon!

Congratulations to our Founder, Dr Rolf Gomes, for being named the Queensland Australian of the Year recipient!

His determination to bridge the gap in health outcomes for country Australians has led Heart of Australia to now deliver life-saving specialist services and testing in over 30 rural, remote, and First Nations communities across Queensland.

This remarkable award comes at a pivotal time for Heart of Australia, as under Dr Gomes’ steadfast leadership, we transition into a national program bringing accessible healthcare to the most far-reaching corners of our country.

A sincere congratulations goes out to fellow Queensland winners – Cheryl Harris OAM, Ian Gay, and Jarib Branfield-Bradshaw. It is a privilege and an honour to learn from such incredible people who have dedicated their lives to making Queensland and the nation a better place for all 🧡
