CRU - Community Resource Unit Ltd.

CRU - Community Resource Unit Ltd. CRU exists to create & promote positive change so that people with disabilities can belong to & actively contribute to social & economic life.

CRU believes that people with disabilities should belong to and participate in community life. This means their interests are best served when they are supported to grow up in a family, go to school at their local neighbourhood school, participate in community activities with their peers, have a home of their own, maintain strong relationships with friends, parents and siblings, work and participate in community life and have their rights as citizens protected.

On Monday 16 February, CRU welcomed people with disability, families, workers and service providers to our forum Discovering Possibility explore how Customised Employment opens doors and creates win - win outcomes for both employees and employers.

We heard from Therese Fimian and Randy Dicks from Marc Gold and Associates (MG&A), who expanded our thinking about limits of traditional employment approaches and highlighted the power of matching people’s strengths and interests to the unmet needs of businesses.

Thank you to Uncle Willie Prince for his Acknowledgement of Country, Will Coventry and Anna Coventry for sharing their stories, and to Matt Armstrong and his son Finn for visually capturing the day through graphic facilitation.

‘What will happen in the future when I am no longer here or unable to do what I am currently doing?’ is a question that can keep families of all ages awake at night.

We know that we need to plan for the future, but it is such a daunting prospect, that we often put our heads in the sand and leave it for another day. However, the future starts now and it is never too early to plan as we never know what is around the corner. Better to do the work now and be prepared while you still have the capacity!

This new, practical workshop is designed to motivate and help you to take practical steps towards ensuring a good life will continue in the future.

Wednesday 13 May 2026 9.30am – 4.15pm
Club Warwick RSL, Warwick
