Last Wednesday, we had the chance to be part of the Brimbank Community Disability Expo hosted by the DEC, and what a great day it was!

It was so good connecting with participants, families, carers, and fellow providers—all coming together to share resources, stories, and support. Events like this remind us how strong and connected our community really is.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat. We loved meeting you and learning more about your goals and experiences.

Finding the right support worker can change everything.

At My Care Match, we don’t just fill shifts — we focus on meaningful matches. We take the time to understand your goals, personality, cultural background, communication style, and what truly matters to you.

Why families and NDIS participants choose My Care Match:
• Personalised matching, not random allocation
• Our competitive rates are well below NDIS price limits, making your funding go further
• Less stress – we’ll find quality support workers that match your requirements – all you have to do is choose!
• Cultural understanding and inclusivity
• Peace of Mind – all our support workers are screened, reference checked and fully insured

We know that support works best when it feels consistent, empowering, and genuinely person-centred.

If you’re looking for NDIS support that feels tailored to you, we’re here to help you find the right fit.

Speech Pathology is about more than just speech.

For many autistic children and adults, communication can look different — and that’s okay. Our Speech Pathology support focuses on building communication in ways that feel safe, respectful, and meaningful to the individual. That might include spoken language, AAC, social communication, understanding emotions, or supporting everyday interactions at home, school, or work.

We work alongside families to create practical, neurodiversity-affirming strategies that strengthen confidence and connection — not to change who someone is, but to help them express themselves in ways that work for them.

If you or your loved one is looking for speech pathology support that values strengths and individuality, make a referral today by scanning our code or visiting our website at www.autismabilities.com.au

Random Acts of Kindness Day is a gentle reminder that small, thoughtful actions can have a real impact — on individuals, communities, and the way we show up for one another.

Kindness doesn’t have to be loud or grand. It can be holding the door for others, smiling at everyone, sending an uplifting text, or treating yourself to a cup of coffee.

If you’d like to get involved, the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation offers free, practical resources for home, school, workplaces, and communities — along with many thoughtful tools to help spread kindness in meaningful ways.

Today we pause to remember the National Apology to the Stolen Generations, delivered on 13 February 2008 — the first formal acknowledgment of the grief, suffering, and loss experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples due to past policies of forced child removal.

This anniversary reminds us of the resilience of Stolen Generations survivors and their families, and the ongoing call to action from the 1997 Bringing Them Home report. While the Apology was a crucial step toward healing, much work remains — only 6% of the report’s recommendations have been implemented.

Acknowledging the wrongs of the past is essential to moving forward. We honour the voices and stories of survivors, and reflect on how truth, accountability, and ongoing action can guide healing.

If you’re able, consider joining one of these free events to listen, reflect, and stand alongside healing:

Community Events: A morning of reflection, remembrance, and connection. This is an opportunity to come together, honour truth, acknowledge shared history, and reaffirm our commitment to respect, healing, and reconciliation.

National Apology Breakfast – Supply Nation: An event that honours the Stolen Generations and their resilience. The breakfast provides space for reflection, education, and support, recognising historical injustices and celebrating the ongoing journey toward reconciliation.

Does your child avoid messy play, pull away from hugs, or constantly seek touch? These behaviours often connect to how their tactile system processes information.

In our latest blog, we explore the sense of touch and how Occupational Therapy can support children to feel safe, confident, and in control of their sensory world.

Read the full blog to discover practical, neurodiversity-affirming strategies, and to better understand your child’s sensory needs you can try at home, school, or in daily routines.
