There’s a difference between a confident person and a cocky one. A confident person knows who they are inside and out including their flaws and has long ago accepted all of themselves, this means they aren’t afraid to be corrected because they know for a fact they’re not perfect. A cocky person on the other hand knows only one thing about themselves and that’s that they are deeply insecure and afraid of mistakes being made by themselves. Cockiness if you will is insecurity pretending to be confidence. It’s a coping mechanism and a very bad one at that, the behavioural equivalent of a child saying to their peer I am not scared you are. Many people unfortunately mistake cocky for what it’s pretending to be because the act is a particularly good one but no matter how good at the end of the day it is all just an act, it isn’t really confidence. All this to say confident people are great but cocky people aren’t people ready or willing to deal with their problems, don’t exhaust yourself trying to make an effort doing what they aren’t ready to. Find confident friends but don’t hang with cocky ones!
