With more than a decade experience as a primary carer Siblings is built on connection between two brothers. Together they share what they have learnt from each other with their dedicated team to provide more than just care.

This past week we were proud to be apart of annual Breathe & Freeze event.

This year the event took place over two days, with in Burleigh holding the first-ever Gold Coast session before we headed back to Newcastle, where Buildcare was founded.

Thanks to the incredible effort from the Buildcare team, Making Strides and both amazing communities, over $9000 was raised for SCI research and the creation of accessible housing.

We’re grateful to be apart of these communities that are creating real change.

Siblings Care was born from lived experience.

After Jason’s life-changing spinal cord injury, his brother Will become more than just family he became a carer, an advocate and a constant in Jason’s recovery.

That journey shaped everything we do today from understanding what real support looks like to building a team that values connection, independence and care that feels personal.

Earlier this year our friends at shared Will’s story at their annual Charity Lunch in Newcastle, a powerful reminder of how Siblings Care began and why we continue to support Buildcare’s mission through their upcoming Breathe & Freeze event on October 25th at Merewether Beach.

Together, we’re building more than care we’re building community.

Our client Hamish first came to while visiting the Gold Coast… now he’s training here every week for his rehab and wheelchair rugby commitments since moving to the area.

We’ve been bringing clients to Making Strides in Burleigh for years now and it’s easy to see why. It’s one of the largest SCI + Neurological Conditions Rehab facilities in the region and provides everything from private treatment to group initiatives which are a great way to build community and train alongside those who understand your journey.

breathe and freeze ❄️
Raising awareness around the temperature regulation issues people with Spinal Cord Injuries face daily by getting uncomfortable in the ice for a few minutes all whilst helping raise money for project one which will bring high quality, automated and accessible housing to people who need it. Our goal at Siblings Care is to help young males who have suffered a Spinal Cord Injury resulting in Quadriplegia to get the best support and care team around them, to improve their quality of life as quickly as possible once they start their life after leaving hospital.
