Did you know that 90% of cheese made in America is made with GMO rennet?

And "ingredient labels do not distinguish between bioengineered rennet and the original animal-based type so consumers have no way of knowing what they’re eating."

Guess who makes this --> Pfizer.
It is becoming harder to trust where your food comes from and what it is made from.

How long till Australia follows suit, if it hasn't already!

Homemade apple juice iceblocks (400ml freshly juiced apple, 100ml filtered water) small batch of apple scrap vinegar started, and apple meat from the juicer in the freezer (still deciding what to do with this).

No waste 🥳

My whole family have been knocked down with a nasty gastro bug over the last few days...one by one 🤕

After 3 days of feeling terrible finally I am feeling human again 🥳

Now for the best way to recover and build back my healthy microbiome:

1. Rehydrate, rehydrate, rehydrate.
The biggest risk with gastro is dehydration. Lots of water, coconut water and yes, chicken broth soup tastes so good (in small amounts)

2. Rested my stomach with a small fast, about 6 hours, can be for longer to settle my digestive system after it's traumatic experience.

3. Gradually reintroduced food with a toast. I started with toast and honey, no butter. Then later another piece with butter, avocado and Vegemite, and that was good 😋.

4. Avoid coffee, I tried that out of normal habit and it wasn't too good 🤣

6. Rest and a good night's sleep makes a world of difference. I normally struggle with resting in general as I am someone who has to always keep busy, usually out with my veggie garden in my spare time, but oh boy, walking up and down my stairs was like a marathon being done. So rest it was!

8. Lastly keep it clean!
Disinfectant wipes and hand washing is a must during and after.

What lifestyle changes have you made to make your glass full?

Life begins with gut health because the gut microbiome plays a crucial role right from birth, shaping life from this moment — affecting immunity, growth, mental health, and overall well-being.

How is this so:

▪️Babies first acquire gut bacteria during vaginal birth, where they are exposed to the mother's microbiome. This "seeding" process helps kickstart the baby's immune system. (Don't worry c-section mums, as with myself having 4 of them, we can still help our babies develop a strong gut microbiome by skin-to-skin contact immediately after birth and delayed first bath)

▪️In infancy, gut bacteria assist in breaking down breast milk or formula, providing essential nutrients like vitamins and fatty acids crucial for growth and brain development. Without a healthy gut, nutrient deficiencies can impair early development.

▪️ The gut acts as the largest immune organ. Early gut health determines how well the immune system develops, influencing lifelong resistance to disease.

Studies show that imbalances in early gut flora may increase the risk of asthma, allergies, and autoimmune diseases.

▪️The gut-brain axis affects emotional and cognitive development. Research suggests that gut bacteria can influence stress responses and emotional regulation starting from infancy.

Life begins and ends with gut health!

✨️ Have you tried quinoa yet?

Quinoa isn’t just another grain, it’s a nutrient-packed seed, rich in fiber, and is a complete protein containing all 9 essential amino acids (essential for our body).

✨️ Let me tell you why you should try it (if you haven't already):

🔸️Keep you fuller for longer, helping you stop unnecessary snacking between meals.
🔸️Its a great alternative for those with gluten sensitivities, or if you choose to eat gluten free.
🔸️Its versatile uses. From salads and soups to breakfast bowls and veggie burgers. Experiment - you can't go wrong!

Quinoa is quick and easy to prepare, making it ideal for busy days. You can cook it in advance and have it ready to go, cook it in broth for extra benefits or toss it with roasted veggies for a hearty, satisfying meal.

✨️ Tell me your favourite ways to eat quinoa?

Why Eat Memory-Boosting Foods?

Eating memory-boosting foods is beneficial to your health because they support brain function, improve cognitive performance, and help protect against age-related cognitive decline.

Nutrient-rich foods that enhance memory often contain antioxidants, healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals that nourish brain cells, reduce inflammation, and promote better communication between neurons.

Key Benefits:

✔️ Improved cognitive function - nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids (found in fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts) support brain cell structure and improve learning and memory.

✔️ Neuroprotection - antioxidants in berries, dark chocolate, and leafy greens help protect the brain from oxidative stress, which can damage cells over time.

✔️ Better blood flow - foods like beetroot and leafy greens contain nitrates that improve blood flow to the brain, enhancing mental performance.

✔️ Reduced risk of neurodegenerative diseases - diets rich in brain-boosting foods are linked to a lower risk of conditions like Alzheimer's and dementia.

✔️ Mood and mental health - nutrients such as B-vitamins (in eggs, seeds, and whole grains) and magnesium (in dark chocolate and nuts) help regulate mood and reduce stress, indirectly supporting memory and focus.

Incorporating memory-boosting foods into your diet supports overall well-being by enhancing mental clarity, focus, and long-term brain health.

Here are my chosen 5 best memory boosting foods that are easy to include in your everyday eating 😋
