Last Friday, Mount Hunter Public School opened their Tiny Forest and honestly, what a special thing for our kids! It’s going to be a space they can help grow, learn from, and enjoy for years to come.

We got to meet some of our favorites from Gardening Australia and Botanic Gardens of Sydney at the event! Such a cool moment.

Being a full-time working mum means you’re constantly juggling — work, home, school — so knowing our community has schools like MHPS that not only take care of our kids, but also give them these amazing opportunities, is such a relief.

Our sincere gratitude to the teachers, parents, and P&C crew — you truly go above and beyond for the kids, and it doesn’t go unnoticed. Everyone here at Friendly Fred's Tree Services only wishes we could have done more to help!

Feeling lucky our little community has such big-hearted people in it.

🌳 Tree Removal & Replanting – Working with Hornsby Council 🌳

We recently had the opportunity to work alongside Hornsby Shire Council on a tree removal project, ensuring all conditions were carefully followed.

From lodging the application with council to the final replacement planting, we looked after the entire process to make things as smooth and stress-free as possible for our client.

As part of the approval, we planted a Tristaniopsis laurina — a lovely native species that supports local biodiversity and keeps our landscapes thriving.

We know council approvals can be a bit tricky at times to understand — that’s why we’re here to help from start to finish, making sure everything is done properly, responsibly, and with care.

🌱 Why We Buy Local When Replanting Trees 🌱

When we replant trees as part of council-approved works, we always aim to buy local. Locally grown plants are already familiar with our climate and soil, which gives them the best chance to thrive.

We prefer to buy our newbies from in Douglas Park — they know their stuff! Drop down and see Nathan if you're after healthy, hardy trees grown right here in the local area.

Supporting local nurseries doesn’t just help the community — it helps the trees too!

🌳A little bit of happy news we'd love to share...

Today, a number of beautiful trees were given a second chance — saved and off to their new home.

It’s often assumed that all we do is remove trees, but that’s not the full story. When there’s an opportunity to preserve and relocate them, we take it — and today was one of those truly special days.

We honestly can’t express how happy this makes us feel. Knowing these trees will live on and thrive elsewhere is what makes the hard work so worth it.

Huge thanks to for their care and teamwork in bringing this to life. We’re privileged to work alongside people who value nature as much as we do.

Grateful for the wins — big or small — that help us care for our environment one tree at a time.

One of the things that quietly sets us apart at Friendly Fred’s is that we’ve always had our own in-house crane service—and it really makes a difference in how we operate.

Having our own crane means we’re not relying on outside suppliers, waiting around for equipment, or driving prices up. It allows us to get in, get the job done safely and efficiently, and keep everything running on time—especially when dealing with those big, awkward, or hard-to-reach trees.

It’s just one of the many ways we work behind the scenes to keep things smooth and stress-free for our customers. No fuss, no fanfare—just doing what we do best.

🌱🐨 Helping Our Koalas with Uni Vets Camden 🐨🌱

We’re excited to share how we’re helping care for koalas!

At Friendly Fred's Tree Services, we have dedicated trees onsite to provide fresh, nutritious leaf for koalas in care whilst also habitating others for resting forks. Uni Vets Camden uses these leaves and tree forks in enclosures and other recovery areas, ensuring they have the best support during their rehabilitation. 🌳💚
