Working Bodies Remedial Massage, Craniosacral, Neuro Linguistic Programming , Hypnotherapy, TimeLine Therapy® I am truly grateful. Theona Spurr

I have worked as a Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist for 22 years and have continued to broaden my knowledge, training in Craniosacral Therapy (CST),
Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), TimeLine TherapyTM, Hypnotherapy and Crossfit coaching. I spent 7 years researching head forward posture in children and the detrimental effects of prolonged device use. I have worked with Australia’s elite sports teams and the people stuck sitting behind a desk. Each person is unique and every treatment is different, based on what the body is asking for at the time. I feel truly privileged to have also worked with some of the best practitioners and mentors in the world and the most inspiring clients. I still use the foundations of tapping into my intuition, the skill that my Father taught me. The work I do and have done has healed my heart and has now reconnected me back to myself.

It feels like only a handful of years ago that I was the age my kids are in this photo.
And then, in the blink of an eye my eldest is 18, I'm 48 and my gorgeous Mum is 78.
How time flies when we're navigating our way through this life.
We look up and SHAZAM, we're at a place we only dreamed of 20 years ago.
I'm only two years younger than my Dad was when he passed away. He was 50.
We never know when our time is up so each day it really is our job to live our best life. To honour ourselves, to be kind, to love, to give and receive.
It really is so bloody simple yet we complicate things way more than what we need to particularly as we age and our body's start to change.
So today, look up, look around at all that you have done with the years that you have had and smile.
You did that!!!!!

Sometimes in life we fall to the base of the mountain. Something massive in our life can spin us off our axis and drop us to ‘ground zero’ and we feel that no matter what or who we cling to will not help to bring us back to ourselves. In my life there have been many ground zero moments and in the past, the way I coped was to run from the pain. I’ve run around the base of the mountain so many times. You can even see where I created my very own familiar track……… round and round and round. This time I was given the opportunity to see and do things differently. You see the past was simply a coping mechanism. It’s neither good or bad. It just is. I was so afraid of “rock bottom” as many of us are. This year I decided to do the fall differently. I sought help to see how I could do this dark night of the soul differently.
The most profound new learning I received from an incredible mentor was where I apologised for being in the state that I was and she said “My goodness, this is the GOLD”. It took me a while to understand what she meant and it’s now that I’ve created a NEW track with steps going UP the mountain that ‘rock bottom’ is the Gold if we allow it to be. It’s the opportunity to step deep into ourselves, identify and discover more than we ever thought we knew about ourselves and step by step, and in our own time, shed all that which is no longer needed in this life and come back to our true authentic selves. This life is about the journey, not the destination and with every step we are supported. We may slide back a step every so often and that’s OK, because it’s YOUR life and it’s simply what YOU do with it. There’s every reason to take the time to discover yourself. We have our whole lives to do so. ❤️

I was sent this beautiful piece with exquisite timing from the beautiful Naomi. I have some signings relating to endings that need to be completed this week and I knew it would be a good idea to charge my energy, so as to calmly and peacefully let go.

I have had a week at the coast walking the beach, swimming in the ocean, watching the ever changing weather, doing Yoga, Crossfit and learning guitar. All these things in nature and life re-energise me and re-ignite my soul.

I am so grateful to do what I do. I am so incredibly grateful for the gift of helping people with my hands. It's so true. Our hands are the antennae of our soul and I get to share my heart and soul with so many incredible people each and every day.

Enjoy ###

“Grandma, how do you cope with pain?”
“With your hands, honey."
“With your hands grandma?”
“Yes, our hands are the antennae of our soul. If you move them; knitting, cooking, painting, playing or sinking them into the ground, you send care signs to the deepest part of you and your soul lights up because you’re paying attention to it. Then signs of pain will no longer be necessary.”
“Hands are really that important?”
“Yes my daughter. Think of babies: they start to know the world through the touch of their hands. If you look at the hands of old people, they tell you more about their life than any body part. Everything that is done by hand is said to be done with the heart. Because it’s really like this: hands and heart are connected. Masseurs know well: when they touch someone with their hands, they create a deep connection. It is precisely from this connection that healing comes. Think of lovers: when they touch their hands, they make love in a more sublime way.”
“My hands grandma.... how long I haven’t used them like this!”
“Move them, my love. Begin to create with them and everything within you will begin to move. The pain will not pass away. And instead what you do with them will become the most beautiful masterpiece and it won’t hurt anymore. Because you have been able to transform its essence.”

Reflection
It's an odd thing indeed to take the time to reflect. I never was one for stopping, until now. This year I have learnt to appreciate the word STOP and I regularly enable myself to have moments of quiet and it feels good.
This concept can be challenging if we choose to make it challenging. The simple thing is that when we are scrolling through social media we can choose to stop, put the phone down, close our eyes and take 6-10 breaths in through the nose and out through the mouth in a slow rhythmic sequence.
When we do this regularly our mind gets used to opportunities to wind down and the full body effect is positively extraordinary.
If you feel you would like something to focus on while you breathe, picture the oxygen going through your nose, down into your body and follow the oxygenation process all the way through to your cells. This is the simple art of mindfulness.
Simple moments like these can improve your day, improve your health and assist you in becoming closer to yourself.
It's a simple Win/Win, so give it a go.

CHANGE.
This year has been a BIG year of change for many people.
The pandemic and the last two and a half years has brought us all to a halt to self reflect. Many people have moved house, moved interstate, separated and divorced and/or changed jobs. Change is everywhere. People are no longer what they used to be. We have all been pushed out of our comfort zones into unknown territory. Change can feel scary at times. It can make you feel like you have not enough oxygen with which to simply breathe.
Change forces us, in the most delicious way, to look at our lives and to change that which no longer serves us.
I lived in the enormous house, lived the perfect life on the outside, controlled every move my kids made and quite frankly I got caught up in the materialistic world of keeping up with the Jones's. Fact is, I don't even know any Jones's. It was a construct that I had made up in my own head and chasing the dream of what I thought I wanted made me more miserable than I had ever been.
So now, all of that is gone, like a breath of wind took it away. just like that and what I have been left with is me (and the girls) and a new life filled with endless possibilities and a new way to see the world.
Change is here. I was petrified to discover me, yet now that I made the choice to change, with the change, I have a new smile that is emerging. That smile is a smile I don't think I have ever seen. I walk past a mirror and I see a new version of me.
I see a person who is courageous and brave, kind and considerate to herself, loving and caring towards herself and a woman who has a new beginning. And everyone gets to benefit from that change.
The love now radiates from within rather than without.
Change is here and I've decided to embrace EVERY moment of it with wonder and curiosity.
Change is a good thing, no matter how hard it may seem at the time so if you are going through change, breathe and ride the wave all the way in. You've got this!!!

Have you found your inner voice?
I recently had the opportunity to find my inner voice.
She is quiet, she is brave, she is courageous and kind. It's apparent she loves hopscotch. Put simply, she is me.
Finding my inner voice has been life-changing.
I respect and love my inner voice and I listen so carefully. And every time she speaks to me, I listen whole-heartedly.

Life really is about doing the best we have with what we've got. Opportunities present themselves and we make choices and those choices have far reaching effect. How lucky we are to have an endless supply of choice. Choosing to do things, anything, provides opportunity to understand ourselves better, to grow and takes us on paths we never knew existed.
How awesome is that!
