Who can benefit from our DBT group?

Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) skills can support a wide range of people – including (but not limited to) those diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), or those who engage in self-harm and/or experience suicidal thoughts.

Many people who’ve joined our group have shared that it’s helped them to:
✨ Manage overwhelming emotions more effectively
✨ Feel less alone by connecting with others who experience similar challenges
✨ Learn and practise skills that complement their individual therapy
✨ Better understand the functions of emotions

Evo Psychology’s 10-week DBT Skills Training Group is neurodiversity-affirming and aims to make these skills accessible and meaningful for a broad range of people. 🌈

🌟 We’re excited to welcome Mary! 🌟

Mary is a warm and thoughtful provisional psychologist now offering individual therapy for clients aged 16+ at Evo Psychology in Canberra.

She enjoys supporting people through anxiety, depression, life transitions, work/study stress, and helping clients understand themselves. Mary takes a collaborative, client-centred approach, creating a safe, non-judgemental space where you can explore challenges and discover your authentic self. She has a particular interest in supporting neurodivergent individuals and those navigating self-esteem, social, or personal development challenges.

Outside the therapy room, you’ll find Mary going for walks 🚶‍♀️, reading 📖, writing fanfiction ✍️, and playing video games 🎮 from cozy farming sims to epic RPGs!

Mary is currently accepting new clients and has availability in the coming weeks. If you’d like a supportive space to explore what’s been coming up for you, you can read more and reach out through our website at https://evopsychology.com.au/our-team/mary/

Here are some low-stakes ways to practice sitting with uncertainty (and maybe also have some fun or unexpected experiences).

We love finding gentle, playful ways to build emotional flexibility and self-trust. 💛
What small experiment with uncertainty might you try this week?

Looking for ways to build stronger connections with your neurodivergent teen? 💛

1. Schedule time to spend together, like you would with a friend. Start small if that’s easier.

2. Let your teen choose the activity and follow their lead, this can be a great time for them to teach you something!

3. If your teen isn’t suggesting anything, ask about their special interest or latest hyperfixation.

4. Focus on being active and enthusiastic in your participation; this is about the relationship, not the activity.

5. This is not the time to correct or give advice (unless specifically asked). Let mistakes go!

Small, intentional moments of connection can make a big difference — and your teen will notice.

☀️ Navigating Big Life Transitions
Spring often brings fresh starts — but change isn’t always easy. Moving, career shifts, or relationship changes can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re neurodivergent or q***r.

Therapy can offer space to process, plan, and feel supported while keeping your routines, needs, and identity intact. 💙
