We are deeply saddened by the tragic and senseless loss of Amamuddin Sadar, who was killed in the shocking stabbing attack in Merrylands. A man who came to Australia from Afghanistan in search of safety and hope… only to lose his life in an act of random violence.
He was the eldest of five siblings. A son. A brother. A human being who carried dreams, responsibilities and love for his family. Today, his siblings have spoken about their “deep pain”, and as a community, we feel that pain with them.
This tragedy reminds us how fragile life is. A normal Tuesday morning, people going about their daily lives, and in a moment everything changed. No family should have to receive such devastating news. No loved one should have to live with such grief.
As shared by leaders across NSW, including Premier Chris Minns and local Member of Parliament Julia Finn MP, this was a horrifying and confronting incident that has shaken the entire community. They visited the area, met those affected and expressed their condolences, standing with the grieving family and the people of Merrylands during this difficult time.
We pray for the recovery of the two other victims who are still fighting for their lives. We pray for strength and patience for the family of Amamuddin Sadar. And we pray for peace in our society.
Australia gave many of us safety, opportunity and dignity. Let us honour that by standing together in compassion, rejecting hate, and supporting each other in times of sorrow.
To the family: you are not alone. Your grief is our grief. Your pain is our pain.
May the Almighty grant him eternal peace. May his family find strength. And may our community come together with kindness, unity and humanity.
🙏
