Villaggio Sant’ Antonio was filled with warmth, laughter, and the aroma of fresh Italian cooking this week as residents, families, and staff came together for a very special lifestyle event — a live pasta-making session from scratch, proudly led by our CEO, Giulia Jones.

In a celebration of culture, connection, and meaningful living, Giulia rolled up her sleeves and joined residents at the pasta bench, kneading dough, shaping tagliatelle, and sharing stories that sparked nostalgia and conversation. The room came alive with smiles as residents reminisced about family recipes and traditions passed down through generations.

This was more than just a culinary activity — it was a moment of pure togetherness. Family members, volunteers, and staff gathered around the long communal tables, creating a true sense of home. The sound of laughing residents mixing flour and eggs became the soundtrack of the afternoon, while the finishing touch — a shared tasting of the handmade pasta on the lunch buffet — brought everyone joy and laughter.

The event highlighted Villaggio’s commitment to a lifestyle program that prioritises meaningfulness, connection, culture, and engagement for each resident. Moments like these capture the essence of our community: celebrating life, embracing diversity, and ensuring every resident feels valued and supported.

As one resident put it, “This feels just like home — and the pasta tasted even better!”

The Villaggio spirit was in full swing this week, with more than 25 staff members taking part in our popular Stretch and Wellbeing Classes held at 1:15 PM and 3:00 PM.

The sessions were filled with energy, laughter, and enthusiasm, showcasing the team’s growing commitment to health and wellbeing. From care staff to administration, it was fantastic to see everyone come together to prioritise movement and mindfulness in the workplace.

“It’s truly inspiring to see such commitment and team spirit. These sessions are a reminder that our people are our greatest strength — and their wellbeing matters most,” said the organising team.

The stretch sessions are part of Villaggio’s ongoing Staff Wellbeing Program, aimed at encouraging self-care, connection, and healthy habits across the organisation.

We marked this special occasion over a cheerful morning tea, turning a regular day into a burst of fun and smiles. Celebrating Super Mario isn’t just about honoring him—it’s about that amazing feeling of energy and everyday excitement he shares with all of us.

Another amazing employee experience unfolded at Villaggio Sant’ Antonio during our October Staff Meeting — a celebration that truly reflected who we are: one diverse team connected by purpose, compassion, and care.

The event transformed into a vibrant Cultural Food Festival and Fundraising Celebration, where staff members proudly shared traditional dishes from around the world. From the rich aromas of South Asian spices to the comforting flavours of European favourites, the day was a feast of unity, laughter, and cultural pride.

But beyond the food and fun, this event carried a deeper purpose — raising funds to support lifestyle activities for residents living with dementia. Through collective generosity and joyful participation, our team demonstrated the Villaggio spirit of giving, empathy, and community.

As Clinical Care Manager Nena beautifully said, “It’s not just about what we do — it’s about how we come together to do it.”

Together, we continue to build a workplace where every culture is celebrated, every voice is heard, and every act of kindness makes a difference. ❤️

Villaggio is so proud to announce that from 27 October, we are officially bringing our catering operation in-house!

Over the past week, we’ve welcomed an amazing new catering team into the Villaggio family. They’ve enjoyed a week filled with team-building activities and hands-on catering workshops that have sparked creativity, collaboration, and passion. The energy has been incredible, and we’re already seeing how this will lift the entire dining experience at Villaggio.

But that’s not all… we’re also opening TWO brand-new self-service cafés for our community and staff! ☕🍰 How exciting! These cafés will become welcoming spaces to gather, enjoy fresh food and coffee, and connect with one another—making Villaggio not just a place to live and work, but a place to thrive.

This step forward is about more than meals—it’s about bringing joy, connection, and a vibrant new experience to the Villaggio community. From delicious menus to warm service, we’re setting a new standard in how we share food, celebrate culture, and create memories together.

We couldn’t be prouder of our team and can’t wait for our residents, families, and staff to experience the difference.

Villaggio Sant’ Antonio has proudly welcomed three new residents of the feathered variety – black bantam hens generously donated by Gurvinder Singh from the Canberra Nursery & Garden Centre at Oakes Estate.

The hens, already a favourite with residents and families, have been introduced as part of a new lifestyle initiative designed to enrich daily life at the facility. Residents have been enjoying feeding, patting, and spending time with the gentle bantams, sparking many smiles and conversations.

Operations Manager Giulia John said the hens have quickly become “new members” of the community, offering companionship, a sense of purpose, and opportunities for residents to connect with nature. These kinds of initiatives have been shown to support well-being, reduce stress, and foster engagement across residential care environments.

“This is a wonderful example of how simple lifestyle initiatives can make a big difference,” Giulia said. “We are grateful to Gurvinder and the Canberra Nursery & Garden Centre for their thoughtful donation and support of our residents’ wellbeing.”

The new hens will continue to be part of activities and day-to-day routines, strengthening the connection between residents, staff, and the broader community.

This new wellness program, led by Adele Haussmann, brings a sense of fun, laughter, and meaningful self-care into the workplace. Every fortnight, staff are rolling out their mats and joining in wellness and stretching sessions that are fast becoming a highlight of the calendar.

The feedback has been wonderful—staff have shared that these initiatives are not only improving their physical well-being but also building community spirit across the workplace. It’s clear that the program is helping strengthen morale, teamwork, and a culture of care.

This is just one more way Villaggio is showing how much it values the overall wellness of its people.
