As the wheel of the year turns, in the Southern Hemisphere we welcome Lughnasadh (LUN-uh-suh) or Lammas. This is the mid-summer harvest festival.

The 1st of February is the traditional date, however, the precise astronomical point (midpoint between the Summer Solstice and Autumn Equinox) occurs around 4 February 2026.

Lughnasadh is a time of abundance, reflection, gratitude, sharing, and preparing for the colder months ahead. Some of the things we associate with this festival are: feasting, fire, sun, gold, orange, sunflowers, fresh baked bread, corn, apples, blueberries, and seasonal root vegetables and herbs.

Tonight I shall be feasting with my beloved ones under a Leo full moon (which actually peaks at 9.09am AEST on 2 February). This Leo full moon also brings the energy of confidence, personal expression, creativity and encourages bold proactive action.

The Super Full Moon tonight on 3 January 2026 will be larger and brighter than a typical full moon as it orbits around us.

The first Full Moon of the year is also known as the Wolf Moon and is associated with:

🌕 Community and loyalty – a time to reconnect with your values and “pack”

🌕 Survival and resilience – enduring hardship and setting healthy boundaries

🌕 Independence and inner strength – standing in your own power

🌕 Transformation – facing the shadows and emerging stronger

So it is a perfect time to release the things that no longer serve you and to set intentions that are long-term rather than quick changes.

I am spending tonight with my beloved siblings and my father’s siblings - a magical gift of reconnecting with my pack 🙌🏼
