On a whim I just bought this new release Travel Tarot deck by Jeff Hinshaw, released by Lonely Planet in February 2026. Wow! Such a beautiful meaningful deck.
Each card pictures a place around the world, some facts about it then includes astrology, reflection points and an affirmation.
It's a great deck for people who love to travel. I feel quite nostalgic looking at some of the cards and remembering places I once travelled like the Faery Pools on the Isle of Skye and the Fairy caves of Cappadocia Turkey.
The artwork is colourful and the style almost looks photographic. The cards are big too so you can study all the little details, including the symbols for planetary correspondences
The card spreads are customised for the theme of travel. Pictured in this post are The Compass Four Directions spread which invites you to check in with the practical, emotional, spiritual, and creative aspects of your life.
The Journey Within 3 card spread on the other hand simply asks you to consider who you are right now, where you are going and how to get there, asking you to identify your goals and motivations.
This deck is perfect inspiration for trip planning but also enables you to delve deep on more spiritual concerns in life offering practical advice along with imaginative interpretations of the traditional RWS cards.
Landscape and architecture is prominent in the art, and the minor arcana cards are fully illustrated.
Given the current state of the world this deck is filled with positive messages that emphasize connection is between people and cultures across the globe, as well as consideration of the environment.
Jeff Hinshaw is trained in Psychology, Creative Writing and has studied astrology, meditation, social justice and somatic healing so the concepts and writing in the deck will appeal to both seasoned tarot readers as well as the unitiated.
