Usually it is traditionally accompanied with Indian instruments but in the contemporary practice, practitioners incorporate different musical instruments and styles but still maintaining its genuine authenticity. Kirtan is filled with melody music and mantra with people responding to the words of the singer, clapping, swaying and dancing are purposefully performed to distract the mind.
