🎉🍔 WE WON THE JAR! 🍔🎉

A HUGE thank you to our incredible community for supporting Connected Beginnings through the Grill’d Local Matters program!

Because of YOU, we took out the winning jar at Grill’d 🏆💛

Every token dropped in our jar will help us continue supporting Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander children and families in our community — and we couldn’t have done it without your support.

Thank you to everyone who grabbed a burger and made their vote count, and to Grill’d for backing local organisations like ours.

Why come along to a Connected Beginnings playgroup??

🌱 Support children’s early development

Connected Beginnings Southside playgroup provides play-based learning, which is key to early brain development — helping with language, social skills, physical abilities, emotional regulation and curiosity. Play is how young children learn best.

A Connected Beginnings playgroup connects children to culturally safe environments and services that support health, learning and readiness for school. 🫶

“They come in here, and they don’t want to put their mouth in the water, but by the end of the program, they’re picking up sinkies from the bottom, and they’re yelling out to me, ‘Jayde, look at me, I’m doing my kicking on my back by myself!’”

Did you know children consume around a third of their daily food intake at school?

Lunchbox food plays a crucial role towards children’s ability to concentrate, learn and play.

National Lunchbox Week is an initiative of Nutrition Australia that aims to inspire Australian families to create healthy and enjoyable lunchboxes to help children stay well-fuelled during their school day.

🍎 With school back, don't forget about the Future of Education Equity Fund.

Eligible low-income ACT families can apply to access a one-off payment for education essentials like book packs, uniforms, excursions, sports equipment and activities, tuition and music lessons.

The Equity Fund is open to eligible families with students from preschool to year 12 at schools across Canberra.

Last year, the fund provided more than $3.7 million to more than 6,200 students from financially disadvantaged families.

Payments for the 2026 school year are:
• $400 for preschool students
• $500 for primary school students
• $750 for high school and college students

Applications will remain open until the end of November 2026, and can be made online.
