Celebrating Andrew’s Journey. 🎉 Last week marked a special milestone, Andrew had his final session at North Shore Speech Therapy!
Andrew first joined us back in Year 3, and over the years, we’ve had the privilege of watching him grow into a confident, independent young adult. Now 19, he’s thriving as a TAFE student and pursuing a mechanics apprenticeship 🚗🔧.
We’re so proud of everything Andrew has achieved and can’t wait to see what’s next for him. Go Andrew! 💪✨

October is ADHD Awareness Month, and this year’s theme, “The Many Faces of ADHD,” reminds us that no two children experience ADHD the same way.
For many families, the day-to-day can feel overwhelming, but small, consistent strategies at home can make a big difference. Swipe through for practical tips that could help your Neurodivrgent child’s at home.
At North Shore Speech Therapy, we’re proud to be a neuro-affirming practice. We honour each child’s strengths, support their challenges with compassion, and walk alongside families with care that’s grounded in understanding and respect.
October is AAC Awareness Month, and we’re celebrating the power of communication.
For many children who are non-speaking or minimally speaking, Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is life-changing. It’s not a last resort - it’s a gateway to connection, confidence, and independence.
Swipe to read how parents share the impact AAC has had on their child’s life - from expressing emotions to building relationships and thriving in everyday moments. We feel privileged to walk alongside families as they discover the right AAC tools for their child. Every voice matters, and we’re honoured to support each child’s unique communication journey.
It's International Stuttering Awareness Day and it’s time to break the myths and celebrate every voice, especially our children’s. Swipe through to see how much you really know about stuttering.
This , we’re shining a light on what stuttering really is and how early support can make a world of difference.
It's DLD Awareness Day! Did you know that 1 in 14 children have Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)? That’s two kids in every classroom, yet most parents have never heard of it.
This year’s theme is “You Can’t See DLD”, and it’s true, children with DLD often appear fine on the surface, but they may be quietly struggling to understand language, follow instructions, or express themselves.
👀 In this carousel, we’re busting common myths about DLD like “they’ll grow out of it” or “it’s caused by poor parenting” and sharing the facts every parent should know.
Our wonderful Speech Pathologist and Clinical Champion, Kerrie, was recently invited to speak at Macquarie University's forum “Multilingualism in Clinical Practice”. Hosted by the Macquarie University Masters of SLP Student Representatives. The event brought together students, academics, and clinicians to share experiences and reflect on how multilingualism shapes speech pathology.
Kerrie gave an enthusiastic and informative presentation that reflected on her own experiences as a therapist and also as a multilingual speaker. We’re so proud to see our team leading the way and contributing to the future of the profession! 🙌

🔊 Raising the Volume for Dyslexia Awareness 🔊
October is Dyslexia awareness month and we’re turning up the volume on a message that matters: early identification of dyslexia changes lives.
At North Shore Speech Therapy, we believe every child deserves to be seen, supported, and empowered from the start. Dyslexia affects 1 in 10 Australians, yet too many children are left to struggle until the literacy gap becomes entrenched.
What makes a difference?
✅ Early screening
✅ Evidence-based intervention
✅ Structured Literacy that works
One Week to Go! Our Book Donation Drive is still in full swing and we’re so grateful to the community for the 100 books already donated... but we’re not done yet!
We’re collecting children’s books until September 30, supporting three incredible organisations:
💙 Mary's House Services
💜 Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women's Shelter
💛 The Australian Literacy & Numeracy Foundation (ALNF)
Drop your books at any North Shore Speech Therapy clinic this week. Let’s finish strong and share the joy of reading far and wide. Thank you for helping us turn stories into smiles.

Our Clinical Lead Clare recently attended a consultation meeting for service providers to better understand how the Federal Government’s Thriving Kids initiative and the Foundational Supports framework may impact children with developmental delays and autism.
The session provided a space to ask important questions and share insights on:
- What types of supports these children should receive
- Where these supports should be delivered
- Who is best placed to provide them
- What makes these services truly effective
We’re focused on ensuring that no child is left behind and that foundational supports are designed with real-world needs in mind.
