Movement it where it all comes together. If you think about how and why the body was designed - it was essentially for survival - finding food, hunting and interacting with the environment. .
All systems within our body, are intricately designed for this purpose. And movement, is where it all comes together - our visual system, our respiratory system, our cardiovascular system, our nervous system, our muscular system etc etc. In fact, the integration and co-ordination of these systems make it hard to dissect the influence of just a singular system on our function. That shoulder pain, for example, will rarely have to do with the shoulder muscles alone. Should you consider the limbic system, which is tied to your emotions? Absolutely! What about respiratory patterns and nervous system drivers? Yep! What about the efficiency of the metabolic systems, gut function and how we access energy from our food? Yes and yes..
Movement dysfunction therefore, becomes an important diagnostic tool, that gives us information about a person's well-being. Corrective exercises need to move beyond the simple concepts of stretching 'tight' muscles and strengthening 'weak' muscles. There is a whole conglomeration of things going on. You my friend, are a moving, exploring, interacting being and OUR role as movement professionals, is to determine what your movement is telling us about you. .
It is as simple as it is complicated. It means that for your exercise strategies, as a physiologist, I will ALWAYS choose a system integrated treatment approach. Sound different? Well it is. It has to be. Reach out to today for an intelligent way to recovery from injury and a SMART approach to your sports training. .

Two brains are better than one!.
ENITOR physio, Callum, and I regularly shoot the breeze and discuss treatment protocols. .
Yep that’s right! We have a collaborative treatment approach at ENITOR. Why does that matter? Different eyes see different things. Our training has been different. We read different research and nerd out on our own specialised topics..
Sharing this knowledge and discussing patient treatment means we remain INNOVATIVE. We continue to LEARN. We avoid assuming and what I call ‘train tracking’ - where treatment methodology becomes stale and repetitive..
You get a FRESH, INNOVATIVE and INTELLIGENT treatment approach, across the entire rehab spectrum - acute injury to high performance 💪.
Our over arching goal is to keep you doing what you love in life. We want you to be outdoors and active! So if you have an injury or are lacking fitness and strength to do what you love, book your appointment TODAY! 💪.

So many of the body’s systems need movement for COMMUNICATION..
Think of it like a relationship- without good communication, it tends to break down 😂🤷‍♀️. Or at the very least, create more stress, along with wear and tear. .
WITH good communication though, your body can become more adaptable, injury resistant and robust. You can experience reduced tension and less pain. .
Nerd out with me for a second, so you understand 🤓. Our fascial system is piezoelectric - it relies on pressure changes to transmit information. Guess what creates that? .
The brain relies on good information from joints and the sensory system to make the best movement choices. Guess what creates that?.
It’s worth checking in DAILY and asking yourself these questions:
1) have I MOVED today?
2) if so, how often and with how much variety?.
If movement is communication, doing the same old repetitive activity is just going to train track your information. The conversation becomes uninspiring and not very challenging to the body..
So the trick is move OFTEN and with VARIETY. Spice up your body relationship by trying something new. Maybe a dance class, hiking on uneven terrain or swimming and playing in the waves. Load also changes communication, so mixing up the old gym routine with different weights or tempo variations, are just two ‘spice’ examples. .
Movement is communication. So get chatting with this body of yours.
Have you moved often and with variety this week? ⬇️ let me know! .

This is something I am constantly explaining to clients, particularly my high performance athletes. Quality movement requires ‘high volume’ strategies, ‘low volume’ strategies and everything in between. I’m talking nervous system noise here, not repetitions or amount of exercise. .
It’s all good to load and muscle your way through things. But life requires us to be a little bit more dynamic. Strength training and explosive movement, for example, are very ‘high volume’ to the nervous system- it’s as if you are cranking the sound super loud!.
But our world and environment challenges us in ‘low volume’ ways as well. That softer transition between turns. The ability to quickly respond to rocks that slide out from under your feet. Your capacity to stack joints well and in an effortless manner, so you can move with fluidity and flow. These require ‘lower volume’ strategies and the capacity to turn the volume down. .
Having access to the whole volume spectrum gives you a better chance at being adaptable to the environment, efficient, robust and injury resistant. .
How often do you give yourself the opportunity to turn the volume down with your exercise and movement? Do you have effective strategies for this? Do you know how to train the whole volume spectrum and turn the volume up and down in a session?.
If not, get in touch and learn some ‘volume’ strategies with us. Go beyond what you understand about exercise and human performance and give yourself some movement options✌️. You can book online to start your intelligent exercise training TODAY - link in bio. .

Today is International Day of Women and Girls in Science. Part of the reason I love working events, is to show women and girls what they can do, outside of competing as athletes 🙌. .
According to the UN “long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are steering girls and women away from science related fields”. 👎.
It’s a challenge to achieve gender equality and female empowerment in any industry, but together we can do this ❤️. I promise to keep persisting and pushing my own boundaries, if it means opening doors for others 🤞. .
