History of Loy Krathong festival

Loy Krathong is an ancient Thai tradition celebrated to honor the Goddess of Water. People float decorated krathongs on rivers to give thanks, ask forgiveness, and release negativity from their lives.
It is believed to have begun in the Sukhothai era, inspired by Nang Noppamas, who created the first lotus-shaped krathong. Today, the festival symbolizes letting go, new beginnings, and inviting light and blessings into one’s life.
